Disowned

Hannah's Point of View I was panting as I ran out of the bar. My heels even break because I am running so fast. That p*****t is running after me! I should not let him pay for my drink if all he wants in return is to kiss me. Argh! I walked down the dark alley and took a seat. I pull my cell phone out of my bag to call Lanie, my only trusted friend. Since I do not have any cash and my card is not working anymore, I believe I can not go back home alone. After a few rings, Lanie finally picks it up. "Hey, what is the matter? It is so late at night, Hannah," she began. "Honestly, I have so many things to tell you. But, please get me out of here first." "Wait a minute. Are you telling me to catch you wherever you are right now?!" I put my index finger across my brows and let out a deep sigh. "Yes, and be quick," I whispered through my cell phone. "Hannah, just to let you know, it is literally two in the morning. What is your problem?" "And you should enjoying your first night with Blake right now," Lanie continued. "The wedding did not happen!" I yelled in frustration. It is only a complete silence that I hear from the other line for a few minutes. A deafening silence. I can feel tears welling up in my eyes until I begin sobbing softly. I cover my mouth with my hand to stop myself from crying out loud. "Oh my God, Hannah, what happened?" "I will text you my location; please come over as soon as you can," I said as I hung up the phone. My knees tremble as my heart sinks. Remembering that tragic happening yesterday, makes me want to end my life sooner. I didn’t wait that long when Lanie finally arrived. She runs towards me and lifts me up. "Come on, let's go. It is not safe to be out of here at this time." I keep my mouth shut as soon as we get into her car. My eyes are fixed on the window and I can perceive that Lanie just wants me to say something first. "I am so drained right now. Maybe I can explain everything tomorrow." I see her simply nodding from my peripheral vision. Her car came to a halt in front of our house's main gate. "Thank you, Lanie. I will talk to you tomorrow." I am about to open the car's door when she talks. "Are you sure that they are still going to let you sleep in their house after not marrying Blake?" "I will let you know if they don’t accept me." I force a smile before hopping out. She looks so anxious. Well, that is understandable, especially knowing my parents. My heart is beating so loud and fast. I can say that I am not nervous, however, I am also afraid that what Lanie said is true. I walked straight into our gate and it was locked up. I began calling our helpers' names for help. Linda, one of our helpers, comes out with a gloomy expression. "Good morning, Ma'am Hannah," she is stammering as she greets me. I simply nod and take one step inside when she blocks my way. "How come, Linda?" "I am sorry, Ma'am, but you are not allowed to enter." "Why? I live here." I try to keep my voice and eyes straight but I can not hold them. My voice breaks as my eyes begin to release tears. "I am sincerely sorry, Ma'am." I was about to take a step backward when my sister walked through. She gently pushes Linda out of her way and walks over to me. "Oh, look who's here," she says bluntly, walking closer to me. "I'm wondering where you got the nerves to come back here after what you did!" Helene, my sister, yells at my face, but before I could even react, her palm lands on my cheek and slaps me. "Don't you have any conscience?! You know that our wedding is happening very soon. And look what you did! You both cheated behind my back, so stop talking like I'm the one who did something wrong here!" I burst out crying as I yelled outside our house. Why are they doing this to me? I should be cursing her to death right now, but I kept my mouth shut because she's still my sister. I'm not going to let a man destroy us, but based on what she's doing, she totally wants us to destroy each other. "What is happening right here?" My mother steps out, a frown on her face. "Well, look at Hannah, Mom. She still has the audacity to come back here after leaving Blake alone on their wedding day." "You two are in a relationship, and you want me to attend our wedding? Are you st*upid?!" I couldn’t help but get angry at the situation. They want me to marry a cheater! That's insane. "Watch your mouth, Hannah!" my mother shouts, pointing at me. "Mom, could you please take my side this time? She’s in a relationship with my fiancee! Please don't tell me that you will consider it." She crosses her arms against her chest and stares at me as I continue to cry. I, then, turned my gaze to my father, hoping that he might agree with me. "Hannah, you know that your marriage with Blake will help our failing business; we want you to marry him to help our business rise back up. But, look what you did? Dump Blake on the exact day of your wedding." "Because I just found out about their secret relationship! I was hurt--" "Regardless, Hannah, if you don't want to marry Blake, then, Helene will become his bride." Helene gave me a smirk before they all returned back inside our house and strictly instructing the helpers not to let me in. In frustration, my entire body is shaking. I intended to take a step back, but my wobbly feet caused me to stumble and fall in the middle of the road. I couldn't help but just cry in the situation. 'They disowned me because I didn't marry a cheater? And even though they only wanted me to marry Blake because of his money and popularity, I truly loved him with all of my heart. That’s why I couldn’t believe that he cheated on me with my sister.’ Between the two of us, they have favored Helene all the time because she's obviously my parents' favorite, and that's all fine with me. But what's not fine is that they still consider Helene cheating with my fiancee, Blake. That's unbelievable! My cell phone vibrates, jolting me back to the present. I take it and Lanie's name appears on the screen. "Hello, Hannah, how are you?" she begins as I answer the call. "I'm still in the car right now, outside my apartment, waiting for your update. Should I get you now? Because I'm sure they all despise you," she adds. "Y-yeah, they didn't let me in." "All right, I got you, girl. Wait for me there." Lanie quickly hangs up the phone, and I know she's now on her way here. I slowly stood up and walked out of our village when I suddenly felt like a presence was around and following me. The feeling was strange, so I turned and looked around, but I saw no one. I ignore the odd feeling and continue walking. My heart is racing like crazy and I jump in surprise when my cell phone suddenly rings. I drop my bag, so I crouch and get it back, but my vision spins around. A man's silhouette stands directly in front of me. I quickly got to my feet, but there was none. 'Am I really that drunk?' Until a loud horn interrupts my thoughts. I squint as I try to figure out whose car is in front of me. Lanie pokes her head out of the window and exclaims, "Hannah, get in!" I let out a deep sigh before getting into her car. 'Why do I feel like it was the man at the bar whom I saw a while ago?' "Hey, are you all right?" "Y-yes." "You are zoning out. Why?" "I--" Lanie interrupts me. "Or maybe you're just drunk." "No, Lanie. I'm just a little tipsy.” "Well, I can smell alcohol from here, Hannah," Lanie lastly uttered before leaving her car. I looked through the window, and we had already arrived at her apartment. Since my head and vision are still spinning, I slowly hop out. But the weird feeling of someone watching my every move remains.
