Chapter 2, episode 3

One Saturday, Danielle invited Alexander to her parents house for dinner. Alexander was nervous, not knowing what to expect. As they sat down to eat, Danielle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fagbemiro, welcomed Alexander warmly. During dinner, Mr. Dele mentioned Danielle's struggling grades, and how she needed to focus on her studies to get a scholarship. Danielle looked down, feeling embarrassed. Alexander spoke up, "Danielle's been helping me with my math homework, and I've seen how hard she's been working. She's really smart, and I'm sure he'll do great." Mrs. Fagbemiro smiled, "Thank you, Alex. That means a lot coming from you." After dinner, Danielle took Alex to her room, where they studied together and talked about their dreams. But as the night drew to a close, Alexander's sister Olamide called him. "Alexander, I need to talk to you about the business. It's getting worse." Alexander looked worried, and Danielle sensed that something was wrong. As he left the Fagbemiro's house, Danielle couldn't shake off the feeling that Alexander's family was hiding something. The next day, Alexander seemed distant, and Danielle knew something was bothering him. "Hey, what's wrong?" she asked, as they walked down the hallway. Alexander sighed, "It's my family's business. We might lose everything if we can't figure out who's behind the embezzlement." Danielle's heart went out to him, and she knew she had to be there for him, no matter what. Danielle took Alexander's hand, offering a comforting squeeze. "We'll figure it out together, okay? You're not alone in this." Alexander smiled weakly, feeling grateful for Danielle's support. "Thanks, I really appreciate that." As they walked to their next class, Danielle had an idea. "Hey, I know someone who might be able to help us. My friend Joy's dad is a detective. Maybe he can look into the embezzlement?" Alexander's eyes lit up. "That's a great idea! Let's go talk to him after school." After school, they headed to Joy's house, where her dad, Detective James, agreed to help them investigate the embezzlement. With Detective James on the case, Alexander felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He knew he could count on Danielle and her friend's Dad to support him through this tough time. As they left Joy's house, Alexander turned to Danielle. "Thanks for being here for me. It means everything." Danielle smiled, her heart full of love for him. "That's what friends are for, right?" But as they gazed into each other's eyes, Alexander knew his feelings for Danielle went far beyond friendship. As they walked home, Alexander couldn't help but notice the way Danielle's smile lit up the evening. He felt his heart skip a beat, and he knew he had to confess his feelings. "Danielle, can I talk to you for a minute?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. They stopped under a streetlight, and Alexander took a deep breath. "I have to tell you something. I think I might be falling for you." Danielle's eyes sparkled with surprise, but then a soft smile spread across her face. "I've been feeling the same way, Alex." Their hearts racing, they shared their first kiss under the streetlight, the world around them melting away. As they pulled back, gasping for air, Alexander grinned. "I'm so glad I told you." Danielle laughed, her eyes shining with happiness. "Me too." But as they walked hand in hand, Alexander knew that their love was still in its early stages. They had to navigate the challenges of high school, family expectations, and their own differences. Yet, with Danielle by his side, Alexander felt like he could conquer anything. Alexander walked through the front door, his mind still on Danielle. He couldn't wait to tell his parents about her. He found them in the living room, his mom reading a book and his dad watching TV. "Mom, Dad, I need to talk to you about something," he said, sitting down next to them. His parents exchanged a curious glance. "What is it, son?" his dad asked, muting the TV. Alexander took a deep breath. "I've been seeing someone. Her name is Danielle, and I really like her. We've been studying together, and I was thinking maybe I could invite her over for dinner or something?" His mom's expression turned cautious. "That's great, Alexander, but tell us more about her family. What do her parents do?" Alexander hesitated, knowing this was the sensitive part. "They...um...her dad works odd jobs, and her mom is a part-time teacher. They're struggling financially but.. ." His dad's expression turned concerned. "Alexander, we need to talk about this. You know our family's social standing and business connections are important. We can't have you getting involved with someone who might...drag you down." Alexander felt defensive. "That's not fair! Danielle is an amazing person, and she deserves a chance. She's smart, funny, and beautiful, and she's been helping me with my math homework." His mom sighed. "We're not saying she's not a great person, Alex. But we have to think about our family's reputation and future. Can you understand that?" Alexander nodded reluctantly, knowing his parents' concerns were rooted in their desire to protect him. "Invite her over for Sunday lunch next week," his dad said finally. "We'll meet her and see what we think." Alexander left the room, feeling uncertain about what the future held for him and Danielle. To be continued......
