The tub filled with hot water, and I stepped my feet in to test it out before sliding down slowly and letting the hot steam soothe my bones. Nikki and I didn’t leave the venue after lunch until around midnight, and I came straight to the condo and poured a glass of wine, lit some candles, and let myself relax to get the stress out of my system. Everything was in place, and I couldn’t back out now if I wanted because all the payments were finalized. Nikki went back to her place and would meet with me again to discuss any last-minute details, but I told her to take the next day off. We’d exhausted our nerves by checking and rechecking every detail to the last minute, and there wasn't anything else to change.
