When Aurora woke up, it was dark outside. She yawned as she lifted her arms above her head to get a good stretch and frowned as she looked at the empty bed beside her. Her dress was still lying on the floor, so she got up and slipped it on before walking outside. Matteo was sitting at the kitchen island, his hair up in a bun, but a few strands had come loose and were falling onto his face. His right hand played with a pen, but his focus was on the book in front of him. He looked up when he felt her presence, and she walked over to him to wrap her arms around his shoulders. “Hey, I didn’t want to wake you,” he told her and turned his head to give her a quick kiss. “It’s alright.
