Chapter Eight: The Seer’s Chamber The morning pressed against the high window, snow drifting slow and thick. The Keep felt unusually quiet. Elinora sat on the edge of the bed, unfolding the bundle Riven had left for her: a simple wool tunic, fitted trousers, and a long cloak clasped with silver. Warm enough to keep her from freezing, but the thought of leaving the North Tower made her stomach tighten. The lock clicked. Riven stepped inside, his presence filling the room before he even spoke. Cloak lined with fur, boots dusted with snow, sword at his hip. His silver eyes swept over her, precise and unreadable. “Come,” he said. “Where?” she asked, fastening the cloak. “To the Seer,” he replied. “And we’re taking the long way.” The corridors twisted downward into the Keep’s underlevel
