Leo did not get sleep.
The operative's words kept ringing in his mind all night.
The missing pages were not destroyed.
Someone took them.
Someone who already knew the truth.
Now that person was always one step ahead.
Early in the morning Leo got a message from Bella.
We need to talk. It is urgent.
He replied with a location.
Twenty minutes later they met in a café on the edge of Veridian City.
The owner knew Leo enough not to ask questions.
He just served two cups of coffee. Left them alone.
Bella placed a folded newspaper on the table.
"Look at today's date, " she said.
Leo glanced at it.
October 14.
He looked back at Bella.
"The pocket watch, " he said.
She nodded.
"October 14 1986."
Leo leaned back in his chair.
"Today is exactly forty years later, " he said.
