Chapter 12 The consultant, Professor Grover, and a couple of junior doctors brought their chairs round to our side of the desk once Roy, Mark, and I were seated. This more personal approach immediately put me on alert. Professor Grover was very kind and patient, answering the questions we asked him, for the most part using simple, non-technical terms. He put a series of films up on a lighted panel, showing various parts of Roy’s inner workings, explaining his findings as he went. It was difficult to concentrate however, because no matter how nicely he put it, the doctor was telling us Roy had a malignant cancer in his left kidney with a secondary growth in his brain. “Would you like to go into the next door room and talk about things while I see my next patient?” Professor Grover finall
