Catherine wasn't entirely sure if Travis had already left for the office. She hadn't heard the familiar roar of his car engine echoing from the driveway. Still, looking at the time, she assumed he was gone. Perhaps she had simply been too deep in thought to notice the sound of his departure. Since she had moved in, Travis seemed to make a habit of leaving the mansion as much as possible. It was as if he were allergic to the very sight of her; even on weekends, he found reasons to be elsewhere. Catherine shook her head, trying to clear the bitterness from her mind.
