"Good morning, Ma’am Catherine," Lily greeted as Catherine stepped into the kitchen.
"Good morning, Lily," Catherine replied, offering a soft smile. She also nodded to the other woman working alongside Lily, who was Sophie. Catherine remembered her as the one Lily had been talking to the day she overheard the truth about her cooking.
Sophie returned the smile. Catherine walked further into the kitchen, poured herself a glass of water, and drank it slowly. Once finished, she headed for the fridge. She was hungry, and her body was craving slow-cooked Pot Roast—the kind where the beef falls apart and the gravy is thick, dark, and rich.
