Chapter 4 - Oops

558 Words
If there was ever a time I wanted to be swallowed up, that time was now. As his eyes trail down my body, I almost hiccup, realizing who it was. Andrew Marlowe. A man who you never wanted to spill a drink on. I flush and stammer out an apology, unable to glance back into his angry expression. Shock runs threw me as I saw the already balled up fists clench tighter. I instinctively gasp and flash up to meet his fierce molten eyes. Grabbing Alice's hand, I repeat the apology and sprint away. After making sure I put enough distance between me and Andrew, I turn to my gasping friend. "Do you think he'll remember me?" I say panicking. "He won't, right? I mean, it was just one drink he can't hold a grudge for something that stupid." "Of course he won't remember you." Alice scoffed. "Men like that don't remember anyone unless they're on the same pay grade. Don't get too close to him Riva he's bad news." Bad news was something I didn't need. Bad news meant distractions, and I had enough of those without tending to someone else's whims. I smiled shakily. Alice was right he'd never remember me. He'll never even see me after today. The song changed, and Alice pulled me to the floor after snagging me a glass of sweet red wine. We twirled about laughing, growing drunker as the evening went on. As I swirled, it helped push the thought of his dark expression out of my mind. It had gotten late and me and Alice and I were pretty gone. I still had some sense about me (I always made sure to just in case). I slung Alice's arm over my shoulder and practically dragged her to find a waiter for a room. After 10 mins of stumbling around I gave up and started digging into Alice's purse for her phone. I'm sure an Uber can get here. As I blearyly look I feel a tap on my shoulder and look into his handsome face. My breath hitches. His golden hair falls softly on his brow and his deep gold eyes peirce mine. "An angel." I breath before passing out. The last thing I sense is someone's strong arms catching us detaching me from Alice and delicately carrying me away. When people say they sank into oblivion, it always sounded like a warm nap. It never felt that way to me. It always felt like a great fall. An endless drop as I clung to theair and as I fall flashes all around me. To say dreams are peaceful never sat right from me. My dreams were wild and destructive. Ravenous to pull me into their madness. The farther I fall, the more choas. Wrapping me tight in my most secret of thoughts. Tonight, it seems the only thought in my head were of his honey colored eyes. It went from holding his hand to feeling the tickle of his hair between my legs. It's dizzying. The way he looked at me as if hungry for me cause my breath to be caught in my throat. I feel as if I'm melting under his touch. As he places his hand on my cheek, lifting my face to his, I feel the soft blush of his lips before jolting awake.
