Marley bounded over to Vevina, and she noticed that he was chewing on something. Spy the discarded bone and the other two dogs stretched out in a sunny patch, she worried that he'd found something that could hurt him or make him ill. "Drop it," she ordered sternly, her hand under his mouth. He looked reluctant. "Now!" she commanded and he obeyed. She grimaced at the small object covered with slime and took a closer look. It was a bit chewed but she could see that it was a button, or at least had been. There was something familiar about it.
