Watching her out of the corner of my eye as I held her hand and she slept, was the best feeling in the world. I couldn’t believe myself that this was all over, that our lives would only be moving forward from here on out. I wanted so many things for her, but I wanted to be selfish too and have her all to myself. She was all I would ever need in this life, and I wanted to show her that, I wanted to show her it was only her.

The leaves were at their peak, and many littered the ground beneath the tires of the car as I drove that all too familiar road up the pass. Skyla’s soft snores were music to my ears, I couldn’t believe I had almost lost her again just a few weeks ago, all because I let my temper get the best of me and I wasn’t paying attention to what was going on around me.
