3 I materialized outside the shop. As the cold winter blast struck me, I could feel my fingers parting a thick wall of dream ether. I landed knee-first in the snow. Behind me, the Somnient lay split in half, its nebula-like eyes frozen with pain. Its eyes faded, and then its body shattered like glass. Flames enveloped the shards, and they burned quickly before disappearing altogether. “Nice work, cousin,” Darius said, helping me up. I looked around for the other Somnient. A female African lion sat next to me, chewing on the other Somnient’s neck. The demon was super dead. The lion stared at me with its golden-green eyes, black demon blood dripping from its jaws.
