Chapter Three

The Council of Magical Beings sat in front of me on a slightly raised platform. I suppose this was to give them a feeling of superiority. Shrug. It didn’t matter to me. I was here for business, after that I could leave and not see them again unless they called. Eight members in all formed the council. One of each to represent each magical being or species. Not saying that all beings were currently represented, but these were the current ones that chose to live in harmony with others. I looked to the far right and ran through the members in my head. •The witch, Michele Evans… she was a piece of work. Too conceited for her own good but she was one of the most powerful witches on the planet at the ripe age of twenty-three. •The werewolf, David Sentori… he preferred that the were community be called shifters but it was still a new term. Change takes time. A strict Alpha but not abusive of his position. Overall he was a decent guy, easy to deal with while working between the packs & clans. •The werecat, Samantha O’Malley… a proud lion shifter, more than capable of holding her own against anyone that dared to harm the Den. The Den being a massive compound of werecats from all backgrounds. No one was left to fend for themselves with O’Malley in charge. •The werebear, Azim Warner… true to his name he was a strong protector of the bear clans. Usually docile in nature unless his family or territory was threatened/disrespected. I knew he would make some woman very happy one day. •The elf, Rychell Nerifir… now that woman was a firecracker. One of my longtime friends, basically family, she was convinced that I had a deeper purpose in life. I let her believe that to keep the peace. She was passionate about her duty. Her tribe was her reason for living. I smile slightly in her direction and she nods back. •The fae, Helixo Tarvas… for a fairy, he was actually on the larger side of the normal run of the mill fairy. Not that there is anything wrong with that; just an oddity. Legends say he grew in size to accommodate his great power. No one except his closest friends knew the truth. Thankfully he was a kind ruler amongst the fae so that kept rumors to a minimum. •The human, Jennifer Harinburg… one of the few humans who knew the secrets of the magical world and embraced it with enthusiasm. She almost always had a bubbly personality, even on rainy days. Kind of odd if you ask me but she was about as harmful as a kitten. Turning my head once more the last member comes into focus. •The dragon-shifter, Luminier Starblaze… this man embodied grace, power, & pure male essence. The chief of his people, he worked diligently fighting for equality amongst all the people. His kind knew the hurt that could stem from apathy or hatred. It wasn’t until recently that the dragon shifters joined the council in hopes of widening the peace talks to other realms. I sat back and sighed, releasing the tension from my shoulders. Soon I would find out why I was called upon and then I could go on my way.
