Chapter 5

I remained still, waiting for news of the war, when something clicked in my mind. Nobody was paying attention to our prisoner. I immediately went outside and stood at the entrance; there was no way she could leave that room without crossing through here. It didn't take more than 10 minutes when someone bumped into me, and I picked up her scent immediately. It was who I had been waiting for. Without giving her time to collect herself, I grabbed her and made my way to the judgment room. While on the way, I sent a telepathic message to Lucas and Zekiel, instructing them not to kill the Alpha and his son. I had a fantastic offer to make to them. I grabbed my mate and forced her to sit on my lap, and she didn't resist. She complied obediently. I received a message from Lucas that they were at the door. "You can come in now," I said, and my little wolf raised her head in confusion. I could tell from her expression that she was inquisitive. "Don't worry, you will soon know who I am talking to," I said, unable to resist running my hand through her blonde hair. Some of my wolves walked in with her father and brother, both badly bruised, followed by Lucas and Zekiel. "Heaven!" the Alpha called out. "Heaven?" I looked at her; despite being scared, her face was peaceful and warm. She was indeed heaven. My train of thought was interrupted by Zekiel's intrusion. He sent a telepathic message, urging me to proceed with our judgment. I looked over at him and asked, "What do you want me to do with this pack now? Hmm?" Zekiel considered for a moment and then replied with a smirk, "I feel we should just kill them. We've already taken out almost all the males. Killing the Alpha and his two successors will add more glory to our name, don't you think?" "I like that," I responded, stroking my beard. "But then again, I am not heartless." As I said that, one of the individuals who had brought in the Alpha burst into laughter. I immediately raised an eyebrow but didn't react until I realized who had laughed. "Why are you laughing, Lucas?" "Clyde, you and I know that you're a monster. You don't have any trace of humanity left in you." "Clyde? Who is Clyde?" I heard my little wolf's thoughts. "I am Clyde," I responded to her with a smirk. Stories had it that at the mention of my name, there would be a rumble. I had expected something more fierce. "Clyde just wasn't it for me," was a funny thought that ran through her mind. "Well, it isn't it for me either," I responded again, not looking at her. "let's get down to the business of why we are here, shall we, gentlemen and lady?" I said while still holding my wolf on my lap. "Alpha of Ravenheart Park, why did you bring your wolves to attack me? What's your motive?" I asked, feigning ignorance of their intentions. "You held my only daughter captive, what did you expect?" The Alpha returned the question, seeming indifferent and unafraid of me. "You and your daughter were trespassing. I do not allow strangers into my territory. Once you step into my territory without an invitation, you are automatically a threat to my people and me," I replied calmly. "I have been living here even before you were born. I know this woods just like I know the back of my hand, and I can confidently say, I did not trespass!" The Alpha yelled. "Well, what you didn't know is that I conquered that land, and it automatically became mine, so you trespassed," I responded, my voice growing louder and colder as anger welled up within me. The Alpha didn't seem to mind and continued, "You can't just go about claiming innocent people's land because you have the power. That doesn't make you a good leader. A good leader should be compassionate and not self-centered." Lucas stepped forward and smacked the Alpha, causing him to fall on his face. My wolf called out for her father, but I tightened my hold on her. "Lucas, no! You shouldn't have done that. I haven't reached the point of violence yet, and besides, as he claimed, he is an elder," I responded indifferently. "Now, where were we?" I asked. "Oh yes, that's right. Nobody comes onto my property unannounced or starts a war with me and leaves alive. But I don't want to kill you, that's if you agree to my terms." "Never! We won't be your slaves! Kill me! Kill me, Clyde!" The Alpha screamed hysterically. "No, no, calm down, Alpha," I said, trying to soothe him. "Like I said, I don't want to kill you. If I wanted you dead, you would have been dead the moment you and your soldiers entered this park." I said, smiling. "You will have to leave here alive, but without your little princess," I stated calmly. "What?" A different voice screamed, Heaven's brother, who had been silent until now. "Yes, you heard me. Your little sister and princess will be the price for your thoughtlessness," I replied, and pushed Heaven off to stand. She sprawled on the floor, crying. I meant business. I walked in front of the Alpha and his son. "That is my condition, and you must agree to it if you want to leave here without disturbance. As you can see, you're outnumbered, and I have a place to dispose of your bodies, a place even the ancestors can't reveal." "Never! I can't give my innocent daughter to you, beast, for any price. Not in this world or the next, and I mean it," her father replied defiantly. His response triggered me, and I punched the old man repeatedly. He spat out a handful of blood from the impact. Heaven's scream erupted in the silent room. She rushed to shield her father. "You can have me, but let my family go," she said, and I smiled inwardly; she was indeed a loving daughter. "No, Heaven," her dad responded. "He can kill me, but he won't have you." I let out a sarcastic laugh before replying, "Alpha, I don't intend to let her go if I kill you. I just want you to leave her of your own free will. If you refuse, I'll kill you and still have her." "Dad, go! I'll be fine, I promise you. I don't want anything to happen to you because of me. Besides, we have lost the majority of our soldiers. We can't afford to lose both the Alpha and his successors. Once he gets tired of me, I'll come back to you and Mom immediately. Zarin, convince Dad, tell him I'll be fine," Heaven said, trying to persuade both her father and brother. "Yes, once I get tired of you, I'll get rid of you. But the thing is, you won't be going back to your family; instead, you'll be gone for good," I thought inwardly and smiled
