His Dark Secret

"Zayan, who is Aiza?" The name slipped from my lips as I cleaned his office. A photo fell from his drawer. A beautiful woman, smiling, with Zayan's arm around her. Zayan's face went white. He snatched the photo. "Where did you find this?" "In your drawer. Is she... your ex?" My voice shook. After last night, after his kisses, the thought of another woman killed me. "She was my fiancée," he said, his voice dead. "She died 3 years ago. Car accident. My fault." My heart stopped. "Your... fault?" "I was driving. Drunk. Angry. She begged me to slow down." He laughed, but it was broken. "I killed the only woman I ever loved. That's why I don't do love, Inaya. I destroy everything I touch." Tears filled my eyes. This was why he was so cold. So scared. "Zayan..." "Don't," he warned, backing away. "Don't pity me. Last night was a mistake. The contract stands. 1 year, then you leave with 10 crore. I won't destroy you too." He walked out, leaving me shattered. But now I understood his scars. His nightmares. His rule about no emotions. That night, I found him in his office, bottle in hand. "Go away, Inaya." "No," I said, sitting beside him. "You didn't kill her, Zayan. The accident did. You were 25, angry, broken. But you're not that man anymore." "How do you know?" he whispered, tears in his eyes for the first time. "Because that man wouldn't have stopped kissing me last night. That man wouldn't care if I talk to Adeel. That man wouldn't have nightmares screaming MY name." He looked at me, shocked. "I... I scream your name?" "Every night," I touched his face. "You're not heartless, Zayan. You're just hurt. And I'm not leaving until I heal every scar." He broke. For the first time, the billionaire CEO cried in my arms. And I held him, promising silently: Aiza may have been his first love, but I would be his last.
