Chapter 21
Once the three women were inside, Mavis insisted that Paige go back upstairs to take better care of her injured eye. By now her eye had almost swollen shut, so she didn’t put up much of a fuss. A fresh bag of peas and two pain pills sounded like a good idea. Rebecca made her promise to relax for at least half an hour before she came back down, knowing she wouldn’t agree to any longer than that. Mavis walked up to the apartment with her, to be sure she settled down and relaxed. After she was confident that Paige would rest, Mavis came back down, ready to help Rebecca remove the Halloween decorations.
