The First Move

It was 10 pm and Kendra had retired to her bed. She couldn't sleep. She was so soaked reminiscing about the few moments of fun she had with Daniel. It's been a while since she felt that way. There was this part of her that Daniel had rekindled. She could feel butterflies in her tummy. Just as she was rolling side by side on her beautifully decorated bed, Daniel called. Kendra was surprised to see the call was coming from Daniel. So, she quickly picked up the call to find out why he could be calling her this late.

“Hello”, Kendra said as she laid down answering the call.

Daniel, with a very low and romantic voice, responded just immediately.

“Hi, I just called to check up on you”

"You did well, hope you had a great day?", Kendra retorted.

“Yes, I did. My day was absolutely beautiful, just like you are. Only that I couldn't sleep, I was so soaked thinking about you”. Daniel said.

“Same here, I couldn't sleep”, Kendra responded.

“You are an amazing lady. Thank you for making my day”, he said as he giggled on the bed.

“Thank you too. I believe you can catch a sleep now”.

“l will try. Goodnight and have a wonderful night's rest”, Daniel, wished her a beautiful night's rest.

“You have a peaceful night's rest too.” Kendra wished him.

They both hung up, Kendra all smiles. She could swear that Daniel had developed an instant feeling for her. She could feel Daniel's love for her. Daniel, on the other hand, was lying supine, gazing at the ceiling. He was happy hearing her sweet melodious voice. Now, he could finally sleep. So, he turned, adjusted himself and went on to have a beautiful dream. Kendra was still smiling on the bed, but she had mixed feelings as well. She knows she has had feelings for Daniel, but with the saying, once beaten, twice shy, she wasn't going to give Daniel a chance. And even if she was going to consider him, it wasn't going to be this soon.

It was 5:30 am and the phone rang. Kendra turned to check her phone. It was Daniel calling already early in the morning to check up on her. He was really taking the right initial steps to show how caring and serious he was. She picked up the phone and answered the call. Daniel called to check up on her and to find out how her night’s rest went. He went further to tell her the beautiful dream he had and wished her a beautiful day. Things had started going smoothly and the bedrock of a beautiful union was being laid. Daniel was wetting the ground and hoping his long-time crush would let him settle within her heart.

It was 2 pm and the door opened, a delivery man stepped into Kendra's office with a beautiful package. Kendra was surprised to receive a package as it was the first time she had gotten a package in the office since she started working there. So, she quickly unwrapped the package as she was anxious to know who sent the beautiful package. To her greatest surprise, it was from Daniel. He had wrapped beautiful roses, perfume, a card and chocolate. Kendra quickly opened the card which read:

A part of me woke the very day I set my eyes on you again. The part I tried to bury during our high school days has been resurrected. There is this new joy that comes with finding you again.

Just like roses, you are beautiful.

Just like perfume, your aura brings peace and happiness.

Just like chocolates, you are sweet.

You remain a beautiful and amazing lady.

Daniel

He drew a beautiful heart sign before his name to depict his love for her. Kendra was already falling for him without knowing she was falling in love with him. The card was brilliantly written with sweet words that pierced her heart. She smiled, then picked up her phone to call Daniel. She called him to thank him for the gifts. It was not only that Daniel was gradually gaining access to her heart, but Daniel was also sweeping her off her feet with his romantic gestures.

Love was brewing in the hearts of both Daniel and Kendra. It had really gotten to Kendra that she had forgotten that she had sworn never to fall in love with any man easily after her last ordeal with Jade. She kept reading the card repeatedly as she wore the most beautiful smile ever.

It was nightfall, and Daniel was lying supine on his bed. He was thinking of Kendra. She had really eaten deep into his spine. He doesn't go a second without thinking of her. So, he picked up his phone to call Kendra. Immediately Kendra saw the call, she didn't hesitate to pick up. It looked like she was anticipating a call from him. She really broke protocol for him. Kendra is the type that doesn't rush to answer calls from the opposite s*x. She does seldom answer calls from them. She started behaving like that after the heartbreak she suffered from Jade. So, she had concluded that all men were the same. That all they wanted was s*x and nothing more. That when they get what they want, they would just move on to the next girl. She had also decided not to pay any attention to guys who found her attractive. But suddenly, all protocols were broken for Daniel. It's like he has the magical wand that made her change her mind. So, she picked up the call and with the sexiest voice ever, she said, “Hello”.

“Hi, I just want to check on you. Hope you are good ? “, Daniel inquired

“Yes, I'm good and you? “ Kendra retorted as she smiled.

“I'm glad to know that you are good. I couldn't stop thinking about you. You were running through my mind all day, and now it is nightfall, and I'm still thinking about you”, Daniel expressed how he felt.

“Same here. I don't know what magic you did, but you are slowly creeping into my heart”, Kendra confesses.

“I think fate brought us together because we were meant for each other”. Daniel said, as he was anxious to learn her reply.

Kendra smiled... then she responded. “You have your way with words. You sound so sweet”.

Daniel smiled too, then continued, “You have woken the happy side of my being and I want to be the man that will always make you happy”.

“Thank you for being the reason behind my newfound smiles”. Kendra acknowledges.

They said goodnight to each other as they both hung up smiling. They both went to bed happy.

In the morning, Kendra's phone beeped, it was a text from Daniel. She was still lying in the bed. So, the beep woke her up. She then quickly picked up her phone to check out the message. It was a beautiful romantic message from Daniel. It reads:

Life without you is worthless. Life with you is worth living. May your day be as beautiful as the smile on your face. I know my day will be as bright as the sun because you are my sunshine.

Kendra couldn't hold her smile as she read the message. She quickly replied to the message. Daniel was all smiles as he read the reply:

You have brought happiness into my life. Thank you for making me happy again.

Daniel and Kendra were really getting fond of each other. Something beautiful was brewing between them.
