THE PROMISE!

She squirmed to free herself from his hold but she couldn't. Lucian was consumed by his demons. He wasn't himself that much she could tell. She was just clueless, who the man standing in front of her is. He couldn't stop himself no matter what he tried to say to himself. He laid her down and consumed her with his passionate love. It was sun down, Kaden noticed from the tree house. He thought of their father and mother and the smile on his face turned to seriousness. He got up from the floor and quickly got dressed. Anna also got dressed. They both new that if they had stayed any longer they would get into trouble with their families. When they were done they all went down from the tree house. Elena crawled gradually from the stream after their intense make-out and wore her clothes hastily. As if she was being chased. Lucian couldn't keep his eyes from her. She was frightened of the lustful gleam in his eyes He still wanted her, but he was sorry he had let his demons get the best of him. when Elena was done dressing up she walked gradually away from there as she could still feel Lucian’s touch all over her body. It was hurting her a bit. As she was walking away, Kaden was leaving the tree house, they exchanged glimpses. His girlfriend was behind him adjusting her dress. Elena glared at him as she walked past him. He was smug and didn't care one bit about what she felt. When Lucian had told him, he was head over heels for Elena. He wasn't exactly happy, because he knew the kind of girl Elena was. "You have finally done it! I am happy for you… now all you need to do is forget about her and search for another conquest… I mean what are ladies for? if not to be conquered… right?" when his girlfriend Anna heard him she was ashamed of herself for ever falling for a man like Kaden. She yelled at him; "You bastard!" she ran away from him. Kaden chuckled. "I don't want another conquest… I only want Elena!" Lucian looked hopelessly in love as he was still looking in the direction Elena left from. "Bro! trust me, she is trouble" He tried to convince Lucian. Who wasn't exactly getting convinced by his words. Lucian felt disappointed at himself for compelling his carnal desires on Anna. As they were still talking, Lucian heard screams and people crying some distance away from there. He creased his browse looking troubled as he stationed his ears towards the direction where the sounds were coming from to listen better. “Brother! trouble! There’s something wrong let’s go.” Evelyn's family were staying some yards away from her. When the attack had started they ran to their regular hiding spot, in a cave down the hill but didn't find Evelyn there, nor could they find Kaden and Lucian. They were worried as they searched every nuke and cranny of the cave they were hiding at. Eve shot Jaden a questioning stare as she was suspicious of him knowing the whereabouts of his brothers. While Killian started ranting amongst their children impatiently when they couldn't find their sons. “They are at the spring!” Jaden answered looking irritated by the continuous yelling of his parents.  Killian and Eve were at ease after Jaden answered them, knowing that the spring was far from home. Now they were only worried sick about Evelyn, the family were worried for her, but there was nothing they could do at the time with the fighting going on in the village. ‘Evelyn has always been in that wooden house, since her husband Vlad left her with their son Killian a long time ago. Killian was young when Vlad left. At that time, he was very sad and tried everything in his power to stop Vlad but no matter what Killian said Vlad’s mind was made up to leave. Vlad left the village in search of greener pastures with his friend. Years later Killian grew up to be a strong man and a good wizard but he wasn’t as popular as his father Vlad in wizardry. Killian got married and left his mother’s shack for his own cabin. After his first son was born Vlad showed up. Although he didn’t stay long either, he stayed only until Killian’s second child was born before he left and since then he hasn’t returned. He left Evelyn alone to leave the rest of her life lonely and alone in the shack.’ Immediately after the raid they rushed to Evelyn's house to check up on her, only to find it completely destroyed. Her family would have thought her to be death, if not for the escaped witches left behind that saw her building destroyed with her inside. While Killian was still staring at the building his remaining sons arrived from the stream. “We are sorry father.” They both apologized at the same time. Panting and exhausted from running in the humid weather. Killian shot them angry glares. They bent their heads slightly feeling guilty for leaving without taking permission from their parents. They were apologetic for their actions. Killian ignored them. He was more worried about his mother to be concerned about their lack of respect. He simply called for their assistance together with the youngest son Jaden, to search through the scraps of the destroyed shack for his mother. After digging and gathering they found Evelyn in a horrific condition. Killian was devastated by the state of his mother. He cursed at the royals and werewolves for harming his mother. He was deeply bitter for the state at which his mother was in. “Mother! I am so sorry… I am useless I couldn’t protect you my mother who loved and cared for me” he was crying silently as he tried to gather his mother in his arms. All her grand kids were crying silently for her. as they watched as she   was brought out of the scraps carefully by her son and grandsons. She was barely breathing. Her whole body was covered in blood and injuries. Despite the pain she still had a slight smile on her face as she was holding on tightly to the grimoire she protected with her life.  She would have been done for if not for the protection spell she chanted at the last minute. She was grateful for the spell that kept her alive, for there was something important she needed to do with the grimoire. They took her along with them to their cabin for proper treatment. Eve and Katherine did all their best to treat her, but the treatment wasn't forthcoming. Her internal body parts were too damaged to be fixed. So no matter the treatment she was given she was not showing any signs of recuperating. In her pains from the injury she sustained she called out to her son, who was waiting outside the chambers for a positive outcome. He was scared to his core for his mother's life.  When Killian arrived in her chambers she said to him in private after sending Katherine and Eve out; "My time has come son," the smile on her face was a pained one, that broke Killian's heart a million times. "This is farewell, but before I go I have a gift for you and my family" she handed him her grimoire. Her hands shaking and her voice cracking. "This is a blood grimoire… I risked my life to hold onto it. So that I can give it to my son and his family… inside this grimoire contains a spell of immortality… this spell is your only redemption, from the domination of the royals and werewolves constantly attacking us… You and your family will become very strong after the spell is performed on you all. There is just one thing I want to tell you about the spell…" she paused for a while, then continued.; "It requires human sacrifice." She stopped talking and stared at him for a while as if she was trying to figure out how to deal with his emotion before she continued talking. "Use me… I will soon die after all, let's not waste this opportunity" Killian was irritated by his mother's suggestion. He stood up from beside her and said angrily; "What!" he was utterly baffled by his mother's suggestion. "Can you listen to yourself? What do you take me for?" he was furious. "Listen! Listen! It's not like that. I am not telling you to use me because I want to tag you a monster… but because I want my family to live on even after my death… that's how much I love you all. Even in death I will be happy knowing my family continues to live." "But…" she cuts him off as he was talking. "Promise me you will remain safe… promise me you will carry out my last wish… Be that father to your family that Vlad never was"  the place grew silent as Killian was lost in contemplation. After a lot of thought and hesitation he finally answered her; "I don't want to do this mother... but if it's your will who am I to turn down my mother's last wish… I promise!" she smiled at him warmly. "you are doing the right thing son." she tried to reassure him. "the right thing?" He looked at her sadly and went away.
