“Help me! Please help me!” I screamed, my voice almost getting silenced by the heavy rain.
I looked back, my heart pounding hard against my chest. I could hear their feets pounding hard against floor as they searched endlessly, trying to find me.
I banged hard on the window again, the desperation evident in my voice. “Please, please, help me.”
I screamed yet again, my pulse rang as I stared at the car, praying for the person to open up. Their footsteps got sharper, it was more clearer now. They were close, I banged hard on the window again, feeling desperate—the chances that they would open up, slim.
It was a stranger after all, I could be a treat to them or even vise versa.
But in this open space that extends excruciating long with no one else in sight, he was my only hope if I still wanted to live.
“Pl—” I paused my words, the windows finally winding down. A warm feeling flickers in my tummy, hope. But when I see the face, I froze.
It was Alexander, my sister's fiancé—the same person who was trying to kill me. Could this be their scheme? Watch me run desperately for help while her fiancé effortlessly brings me back to her? I gulped, backing off in fear before he spoke, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
“What are you doing here?” He asked, a brow arched upwards like he hadn't heard my desperate cry for help over the past few minutes. “Aren't you supposed to be in there?” He asked.
I opened my mouth to speak but I couldn't get words out. My lips shook, as I finally managed to utter a word. “Help!”
I said, his brows furrowed in confusion. “I need your help.” I said, my head begins to feel heavy.
“What do you—” he paused as their voices echoing in the surroundings. From the flicker of curiosity in his eyes, I could tell he knew nothing about the matter but the chances of him helping me was even slimmer.
“Where is that girl run off to. Don't tell me she escaped?” Their voices were clear and I could tell they were nearby.
I swallowed hard as I stared at his expression, seemingly thinking over my offer.
“Let's check behind this.” I hear the other say, and my heart skipped a beat. I backed away, swallowing my cursed fate.
“You can just pretend you never saw me.” I muttered, taking to my feet. I ran as fast as I could. I knew fully well that they would soon catch up but I prayed and hoped that I would survive but suddenly, someone sweeps me up the floor.
Lines formed on my forehead, as I shook trying to break free from their grip. The men were supposed to find me, but not so soon.
I thought to my self, turning to see the face. It was Alex. He pushed into the car, slamming the door shut as he took the other side. I stared at him defiantly as I asked questioned him, part of me praying that he wasn't working for her.
“What do you want? You're not taking me to her right?” I asked, my eyebrow arched upwards as my hands rested on the car’s door ready to push it open the moment he affirmed my thoughts.
“Her? Which her?” He questioned, my hands slowly retracted from it as I stared at his confused expression. “I thought you begged for my help.” He said, his eyes scanning mine for some answers.
A sigh escapes my lips, my heart beat finally steadied. My eyes darted towards his confused expression and I spoke. “I'll explain to you later, just please. Get me out of here.”
I said, and supringsily he doesn't ask any further questions.
He just took a coat from the backseat and covered me up with it. “Careful, don't catch a cold.” He said, starting the car.

Right, why aren't you at Walmart? Did you get fired?” Henry asked, mockery laced in his words.
Andrew's hands snapped towards him, his eyes squinted, Heather had actually cheated with his own brother. The brother he had mentioned countless times as the one who made life hell for him.
Andrew opened his mouth to speak, but the words that came out wasn't those he wanted. “I took a leave, I wanted to see you, I wanted to—”
Henry didn't let him finish, he sprung him to his feet and snatched the gift box before Andrew could take it.
Andrew reached forward, trying to take it back but failed, almost falling to the floor. Henry brought the bag out of the box, his face hardened but then he chuckled, hard like the bag Henry had spent months saving to get meant nothing.
“Don't tell me you spent months of your savings trying to get this." Henry paused, leaning closer. “Because I know you can never afford it wit
