My body stilled.
The world around me became so silent that I could hear a sharp ringing in my ears. I wanted the ground below me to swallow me up whole and take me far, far away from what was about to fire up. My eyes felt dry from my lack of blinking. I think I’d forgotten how to move or breathe or… anything.
He did not say that.
He did not just f*****g say that.
Yet, he had. Everett said the exact words to ruin everything, and I had no idea how to play it off as a joke or something else.
I was screwed.
‘What the hell did you just say?’ Husdon snarled.
