CHAPTER FOUR: ALARIC'S POV

1411 Words
I was unable to catch some sleep. Everywhere was so hot and and still feeling dizzy after I had devoured the petite chick here. It was the best s*x of my life, I swear. My phone rang and immediately, my eyes cleared and it dawned on me what I had done. I picked up the call andI was told my attention was needed at the palace. I rushed downstairs and I called my driver to come pick me up but he reminded me that I had instructed him to go home. I still felt a bit dizzy and needed help to get to the palace. I jumped into my car but I couldn't see properly as I drove. The road seemed to twist beneath my tires as I struggled to keep my vision clear. I have gotten really tense up by the call. I was called urgently to the palace, but the headache was much more than I could endure. Before I could walk to the gates, the guards ran towards me in a bid to help me. “Your Highness!” I was helped inside in no time, sat down as I held tightly to my head. “What was the problem, Prince Alaric?” the royal aide inquired. “I can't really say.” I whispered. “I guess…I guess someone drugged me. The palace royal advisor entered almost immediately. He was like a father to me, someone I had always accorded deep respect to. He signalled for the guards to leave the room. “My prince, there is a mission at hand that needs to be attended to urgently”, he said. “What is it all about?” I inquired. “Yes, something tragic is happening at the southern kingdom and I will love you to handle it and you will be leaving in three days time.” He explained. “But… I hesitated. “There is something I need to handle first.” “Not at all, you have been careless enough. I got the information about what happened at the hotel.” He said sharply. You need your full concentration, you cannot afford to be distracted.” I couldn't even tell him about her- I didn't even know her name. But yet, I couldn't let go of her thoughts in my mind. Her soft lips. The way she moaned. The way she clung to me like we were made for each other. Lyriana’s POV I woke up by 9am and tried to move but I couldn't since I had s*x all through the previous night. I tried to find my way towards the bathroom which I did. I brushed my teeth and took my bath. As I moved to the kitchen and the living room, I noticed Alaric was nowhere to be found. I stayed up till eight o'clock in the evening but Alaric never showed up, and whenever the door made any sound, I thought it was him, but it was the room service. The next day, I returned to my apartment and met with Chloe, who was happy that I wasn't a virgin anymore. She wanted to know about Alaric, but I didn't know what to tell her. At first, I found it hard to believe the obvious, but seeing his belongings in the suite left me with some level of hope. I went back to the hotel after a week, but I couldn't find Alaric. I went back home with nothing. With the hopes that I would see him again, I continued going back to the hotel. I just accepted it for what it was. I was just meant to be a one night stand. We had a very nice time together, and that was it. School resumed and Chloe had to go back to the city to resume her academic activities and I went back to the Callista palace. I couldn't help but to keep thinking of the night whenever I was alone. The kisses, touch and the s*x….Oh no! It was so good and I craved for more. Two months later, the queen had invited me over to the palace hall for a discussion. She had started to discuss how I need to start considering getting married so that the lineage doesn't die like that. I needed to get married as a virgin to my husband for him to become the heir to the throne. “Lyriana, I have brought you up with discipline and high morals, and now you are of age, you need to start considering getting married.” She started. “You are going to get married to one of the noble men in town and I am so grateful that the child I raised is pure.” She continued. I smiled inside of me. Only if this woman knew what I did. While we were in the middle of the discussion, I started to feel nauseous and dizzy. “Mother, I feel…” I slumped. “Somebody help!!!” The queen screamed aloud and two maids rushed in almost immediately. “Get me the physician now!!!. The queen yelled. “Right away, my queen” said one of the maid as she rushed out Few minutes later, the physician walked in with the maid and I was revived. The physician carried out some medication investigations on me. As the physician examined my pulse. His fingers felt cold against my wrist. He raised his brows, he stepped closer to me and softly positioned his hand over my stomach. “Kindly, excuse us for now.” The physician said to the maids and they walked out of the room. “My queen, he started then paused. “It seems the princess is carrying a child.” It sounded so unbelievable, “With child”?. That is not possible. I was the example of virtue. The virgin heiress. Brought up with strict morals and discipline. Those were my mother's words and what everybody believed. The queen’s face was filled with disbelief. “What sort of nonsense are you saying? This is Lyriana, She is pure” The physician looked down respectfully. “My Queen, I know your worries. But the symptoms are evident, though I will still carry out a thorough checkup on her but the signs are glaring. I remained speechless. The room stood still. I held onto the edge of the seat, my heart beating very fast. “Get out!” the queen yelled at the physician. He bowed and walked out silently. Immediately he was out, the queen turned to me, fears and disappointment filled her eyes. “Lyriana, she said softly, her voice filled with controlled anger. “Do you have something you want to talk to me about?”. I turned away. I wanted to deny it. To lie. But something restrained me from doing so. “I only did it once.” I said under my breath, my voice shaking. “This wasn't my plan. I didn't even know what his name was. I couldn't interpret her expression. She focused her eyes on me for a long time, then she eventually looked away. She positioned her hands on the edge of the window as she tried to catch her breath. “You have brought nothing but shame and disgrace to the royal bloodline” she said coldly. My eyes were filled with tears, but I controlled myself from letting it all out. “I’m sorry, Mother.” “It isn't that easy,no amount of sorry will ease the shame and the disgrace. I don't think you know the gravity of this that you have done. The entire nobility will rise against us if they find out, especially our rival kingdom, Ardonia kingdom. The bloodline is compromised. We both maintained a long, tense filled between us before she turned back to me. “This is going to be a secret. No other person must know that you are pregnant. We will only say that you are sick. “You are going to carry this child in secrecy. My breath caught. “What about the baby?” “We will definitely know what to do when it is time. But you should never speak of the father to anyone. Whoever he was…..he no longer exists.’ I nodded slowly, numb. But deep inside of me, a thought disturbed my peace. What if I didn't see him ever again? What if he never knew?
