BLOODY BEGINNINGS

1083 Words
EMERALD POV I could feel blood trickling to the side of my face falling onto the carpet. Drip. Drip. Drip. I remember being weak and disoriented something hard had hit or someone had hit me at the back of the head and knocked me unconscious. My vision was blurry but I remember being dragged to a small room that I never knew but yet it still existed. The floor was cold and it made me shiver. The door was slammed shut and I heard locks being placed at the door. I thought that was my end. I thought I died that day but hours later I woke up with cramps. I didn't want to lose another pregnancy again. I couldn't bear another loss. My unborn child was the only thing that gave me hope right so I had to be strong. I couldn't let my baby be born in such an environment. A chill of fear ran down my spine when I heard the door creak. I've been locked up for days in a dark small room that reeks of dust and something rotten. I had lost hope and I didn't know if there was a way to ask this torture. I never imagined my death to be this slow and so f*****g painful. My stomach growled in response. I haven't eaten or drank anything for days. As the days go by I feel myself growing weaker and more tired. I know that I won't last but kept a diary and recorded all the terrible things that happened here. And how crazy this small dark room drives me crazy I'm slowly going crazy and losing my mind. "My baby..." I whispered softly as I touched my baby bump. "I hope you're ok..." I said quietly. I couldn't bare the thought of having another miscarriage again. It got darker and I curled my body into a ball and cried softly. I felt the darkness engulfing me into nothingness and this made me scared to give me a fright. I didn't even have a cellphone to call my parents and tell them about my nightmare. Would they even believe me? I sat upright when I heard muffled noises outside and I crawled closer to the door. And listened carefully. "Don't worry she's locked up." I gasped in shock and there was silence. 60 59 58 Before I could finish counting how many seconds passed a female voice laughed loudly. " Now that your useless Emerald is out the picture let's be together and start a family." What? I couldn't believe my ears he was having an affair. "Get out" a deep voice spoke. The woman scoffed. "I'm not leaving!" She shouted angrily. I heard a huge bang and I quickly moved away. The woman screamed loudly. "That was just a warning next time I won't miss my target now get out Sandra." I could hear the front door being slammed violently at that point my heart was racing and I felt like I was going to pass out any minute now. The radio was turned on and I could hear him humming to a catchy tune. It was my favorite song. But he ruined it. I hid myself in the corner and cried softly. I knew that sooner or later he would come back to torment me. This was worse than hell being locked up like a slave or prisoner in your own home. "I'll haunt her in her dreams. Every touch will blind her and take away the pain. My little broken bird..." My eyes felt heavy and I eventually lost track of time. I feel asleep. FLASHBACK EMERALD POV A chill ran up my spine as I looked at the secret room that Ryan had forbidden me from entering. I wondered what he was trying to hide from me but I certainly didn't want to make him upset like last time. Because he easily gets angry. A force I've never felt before kept urging me to open the forbidden room and find out what's behind it. I knew that disobeying Ryan's orders would lead to very bad consequences but he would be at work for six hours and he would never find out about my little discovery. How would he even find out? I quickly grabbed all the keys I could find in the house hoping that one of them would unlock the secret room. Once I managed to round up all the keys I could find I started trying them into the slot one by one. It was so frustrating. An hour later I was fading away and I couldn't unlock the door. "Come on open all ready" I muttered angrily. I was down to one key. I just hope that it works. Once I inserted it into the slot the Golden giant lock instantly unlocked. Yes. For the first time in my life fear gripped me as I pushed the door open. The room was pitch black. I went back to the living room and quickly grabbed my phone which was on the grey coloured sofa. Once I reached the forbidden room I quickly turned on my phone's flashlight. Once I scanned the room it was pitch black and very dusty and it actually felt cold in here this was very strange. Maybe I shouldn't have come here in the first place. This felt wrong like I was invading someone's privacy Maybe I shouldn't go any further because Ryan had his reasons. No I can't go back. I've already come this far. I couldn't chicken out and be a coward now. I didn't try on all those keys for nothing. I noticed white long bed sheets covering three big rectangular boxes. My heart was thumping wildly in my chest with every step I took. What's the worst that could happen? I took a deep breath to calm my unsettling nerves and slowly pulled the white sheet off one of the rectangular boxes. Once the white bedsheet fell to the ground I stared at the box. It was actually a big one. I was confused. When I moved closer using my flashlight I looked at the transparent glass. It was covered with frost and ice when I drew my flashlight closer than before I noticed a human hand with a wedding band on it frozen in the refrigerator. A scream escaped my lips and I fell to the ground scared for my life. Tears rolled down my cheeks. It was a dead body.
