The crowd that had formed around Olive, Franny, and Jacey dissipated as kids found their parents’ cars or got on the bus. As she walked to Aunt Barb’s car, Olive didn’t realize that Amber was watching her with a sly grin on her face. All she could focus on was getting away from Jacey. And Franny. Ugh, I blew it with her. Franny has done nothing but be an amazing friend and defend me.
Aunt Barb closed the driver side door. “So… what just happened?”
