Chapter 23
She did her scenes with more fervor and determination than she had ever felt. The lines needed to be perfect, and the acting had to be even better. After church on Sunday her and James had locked themselves in Olive’s room and gone over the lines again and again. Adam would join them after his baseball game. James had set up the chair and put Olive behind it to mimic her position on stage. He was out of the main scene, so while Olive went over her lines again, James ran Adam’s lines.
Sophia knocked on the door, “Are you guys ready for a break, you didn’t even eat lunch yet.”
James looked at Olive, waiting to see how she answered. His stomach wouldn’t wait though and let out a loud gurgle.
“Yeah, James is hungry,” Olive said, winking at her younger brother.
