I'm just a girl that was kidnapped and homeless now. I was living in Chicago. I tried to do odd end jobs to make enough for me to at least eat but that hardly ever happened. I was currently walking to the foodmart when I heard a bunch of loud men. I tensed and walked in to get my things and froze hearing my name.

"Alyssa" he says

I turn around and my eyes water.

"Kaner" I whisper

He drops the beer in his hands and rushes towards me. Next thing I knew I was in his arms and I was sobbing.

"Oh sweetheart where have you been? I've been so worried" He says

He puts me down and looks at me and I whimper.

"Baby where have you been staying?" he asks

"No where"I whisper

"What?" he shouts

"After you know he dumped me in the middle of no where." I whisper again

"come on babe. Let's get you home" he tells me

"Kaner" One of the men says

"Not now Jon." He says

He nods and watches us both and I squeeze into Kaner more. He drives us to his apartment and takes me to the bathroom.

"Take a bath baby. I'll lay some clothes on the bed and then meet me in the kitchen" He tells me

I nod and take a quick shower and walk down to the living room. He pats the couch seat and I sit down.

"so?" He says

"When he kidnapped me he held me for over a year. Once he was done with me he drove me to the middle of no where and left me for dead. I wound up here and living behind a restaurant. I was going to get a little food today when you found me" I say looking at me hands

"Your gonna stay here. I have the room" he tells me

My eyes fill with tears and a sob leaves my mouth. He pulls me into his side and lets me cry it out. I was still crying when a bunch of guys walked through his door.

"Guys this is Alyssa. Baby this is the guys. We are all on the same hockey team together" He says

"You made it" i say with a smile

"That I did baby. Wanna come to a game. I'll even get you a camera" He says smiling at me

"Yes please" I say

"So your a hockey fan?" Jon asks

"I'm not just a hockey fan. I'm a player" I say

Kaner chuckles and kisses my temple and I yawn.

"Go on up to bed baby" He tells me

"No i'm ok. Continue talking i'm listening" I say closing my eyes and leaning into him more

"Alright" He says wrapping his arm around me tighter

"So how long you two known each other" Another guys asks

"Since diapers. I'm best friends with her brother. Alyssa was the pain in the ass that never left us alone. We all call her baby. She is so small and we never thought she would grow any. I mean she's all woman now but she's still a baby to me" Kaner says

"Wow thanks Kaner. I may be small but I can still beat your ass" I grumble into his chest

"Your probably right." He says

I close my eyes again and drift off to sleep peacefully for once.

Kaner's POV

She drifted off and I chuckle at her.

"What's so funny?" Shawn asks

"She always did this when she was younger and couldn't sleep. She would curl up into her brothers side or mine and pass out minutes later. Let me take her to bed" I say lifting her in my arms

She barely weighed anything and I frowned. I talked to the guys a little while longer then they headed to their homes. When i got up the next morning I made breakfast and just finished when Alyssa walked down in nothing but my shirt.

"Morning baby" I say

"Morning." she says

"Look Jon and Tyler's girlfriends are coming over to take you shopping" He tells me

"kaner" I say sighing

"I'll pay for it and you can pay me back later" He tells me

I nod and eat my breakfast just as two girls walk in.

"Morning Kaner" They says

"Girls this is Alyssa. Have fun and get her watch she needs and don't let her say she's spending to much. I want a full wardrobe when yall are done" He says

He glares at me and i hop down off my stool and walk over hugging him. He was huge and I barely reach the top of his chest. He chuckled and hugged me back and kissed the top of my head.

"Go on. I think Ashley brought some clothes for you to barrow for today" he says

I nod and she hands me a bag and I go get dressed and we head out.

"So how do you two know each other?" Hannah asks

"We grew up together. He's my brother best friend" I say softly

"Well we are here so let's do this and fatten you up some girl" Ashley says

I flinch and she notices.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean" She starts

"No it's ok it's not you. I just have a bad past. Being told your fat makes you not want to eat" I say bowing my head

Fingers lift my chin and she really looks at me.

"You are beautiful Alyssa. I'm not saying gain a hundred pounds but lets get you to your right weight so these cloths won't fall off of you." She tells me

I nod and she links her arm with me and Hannah does the same on the other side and we start our day. Once we were done the girl bought me shirts, shorts, pants, panties, bra, leggings, work out clothes, pajamas, shoes, socks, a new phone, laptop and told me to pick out a camera. I knew that was Kaner's idea and I smiled. Once we were done we headed to the rink to meet the guys.

"We are back" hannah calls

"hey baby. Nice time?" he asks

"yeah thank you. The girls were a big help. Look what i got?" I say in excitement

I hold up my new camera and he grins and kisses my forehead.

"WHo is this new little one?" A man asks

"Coach this is Alyssa. We grew up together. Hey is the photographer job still open. She is amazing with her work" Kaner says

"Of course. Take some pictures and show me your best work" He commands

I freeze in my spot and my vision blurs.

"s**t" i hear Kaner curse out

"Breathe baby. It's ok your ok." He tells me holding my face in his hands

"What's going on?" The coach asks

"Coach she has a rough past. If you want her to do something ask her easily. Don't command her it sends her into shock." Kaner growls

"I'm sorry sweetheart." he says

"I'm ok" I say shaking my head a bit

"can i?" I ask nodding to the ice

The coach nods and Hannah hands me my skates and I put them on and step onto the ice. I skate around getting use to it again and then I really get into it.

"come on Kaner" I shout

He comes out with two sticks and drops a puck. I steal it and skate around him and we fight back and forth to get it in the net first. I steal it the last time and make my shot past him and I score. I suck in a deep breath and sigh.

"Wow that was amazing" Coach says

"I'm also a goalie" i say

"Why don't you play?" He asks

"I love hockey but that's for Kaner not me. I love my pictures so much more" I say

"Well if your half as good at taking pictures as you are at hockey you will fit in just fine" He says and tosses me a jersery

It was team photographer on the back and I smiled.

"Aright everyone go on home today" He says and leave

"You look happy" Kaner says

"For once in a long time I am" i say with a smile

"Hey dinner at our house"I shout

"Your gonna cook?" Kaner says

"I am." He chuckles and goes to change clothes

Once we got back to the house I put all my things away with the girls help and then went down to start cooking. A hour later I was done and everyone was sitting around talking and have a few drinks.

"Want a drink baby?" Kaner asks

"No" i say shaking my head

i was constantly running my finger over my scars and Shawn noticed. He reached over and grabbed my hand stopping me and I looked at him in shock.

"It's ok" He whispers

I nod and he lets go but still watches me.

"Think i'm gonna go lay down" I say

I stand up and rush out of the room. I plop down on my bed and sigh heavily.

"You ok sweetie?" Ashley asks plopping down on my bed

I lay my arm across her lap and she sucks in a harsh breath. She traces my scars and I sniffle.

"How?" She whispers

"I was kidnapped for over a year. When he was done with me he dumped me in the middle of no where leaving me for dead. Going through what I've been through caused me issues." I say peeking up at her

She looked down at me and a tear slipped down her face. A throat clears at the door and our heads snap over to see everyone standing there looking at us. Ashley wipes her face and smiles down at me. I wink at her and she winks back.

"What's going on?" Shawn asks walking in

"Nothing just girl talk" Ashley says

I see Kaner standing there with a clinched jaw and I crook my finger at him. He walks over and I move and pat the bed and he sits down and I position him how I want then I crawl between his legs and lean against his chest and reach over turning on a movie. Everyone joined on the huge bed and I smiled. Home Alone was playing and I giggled every now and then and every time I did Kaner would tighten his arms around me.

"Drink anyone?" Hannah asks

"Yes please" I say

She nods and walks out and come back handing me a coke and I smile at her as a thanks. She nods and sits back down. I yawn and turn sideways and snuggle into his chest and close my eyes.

KANER'S POV

"What were you two talking about?" I ask Ashley

"Not my story Kaner sorry" She tells me and I sigh

"Is she ok?" I ask

"She will be" She says with a nod

"Do I need to worry?" i ask

"No more than normal big guy." She says with a smile

She pushes Alyssa's how at her face and smiles.

"What's with the smile?" I ask

"She totally relaxes every muscle in her body when she is near you. Around us she is tense and worried constantly. If your in the room and close she loosens up. Have you two ever?" Ashley asks

"No. She was always this small annoying kid that wouldn't leave us alone. I love her to death but I have no feelings like that" I tell Ashley

"Then you need to back off and let her explore so she can fall in love with a great guy. she is gonna become dependent on you and if you start dating whoever it is isn't going to like this" Ashley motions to Alyssa in my lap

"i know your right I do. But she has been through so much already" I say

"I understand Kaner but she isn't a baby. she has to learn to stand on her own two feet. Yes we can help but we can't be her leg to stand on" She tells me sternly

"i know. tomorrow i'm gonna get her set up in her own apartment" I say

She nods and everyone gets up and leaves. I lay her down in her bed and cover her up and I go to my room. The next morning I got up and got her a apartment in my building so she wasn't to far away and then I had to tell her. I fixed her favorite breakfast and was placing it on the table and she walked in.

"What did you do?" She asks crossing her arms over her chest

"Nothing" I say

"You fixed my favorite. You never do that unless you have done something so spill so i can be angry." She tells me

"Fine. I got you an apartment of your own. Baby you know I got love for you but I don't want you to become dependent on me." I tell her

Something flashes across her face but she covers it before I can read it.

"Where?" She asks

"Upstairs"I say slightly scared now

"Furnished?" She asks

"Yes. You will have to get a bed. You can order one today and get it delivered" I tell her

She walks off and comes back on her phone and dressed and walks out the door.

Alyssa's POV

He hurt my feelings but I refused to show it so I called Ashley. She met me downstairs and hugged me as I told her what happened.

"I get it but he has a point babe." She tells me

"I know. I need to order a bed and get it in today so I can go to my place. Do you and the girls want to come over tonight? I don't want to spend my first night alone" I say

"Sure babe. Come on" She says linking her arm with mine

We ordered my bed and two hours later it was brought in and set up and Ashley bought me a new bed set and she helped me pack my stuff while Kaner was at practice. The girls came over and we ordered food and I turned on some music. She wont be Lonely Long was playing as someone knocked on the door. I was drinking a beer as Ashley let the guys in. I was dancing and singing with Hannah and when i spun around to see Nathan staring at me.

"Nate come dance with me" I say i crooking my finger at him

He walks over to me and spins me out and back in and I laugh and drain the rest of my beer.

"Baby you good?" Kaner asks

"I'm great Patrick. Need something?" I ask dropping my empty bottle in the trash

He looks at me with concern and I roll my eyes and grab another beer.

"Shut up Kaner. This is what you wanted. You pushed her and now she's pushing back" Ashley snaps harshly

"She is f*****g drunk" He snaps

"Actually i'm not. I can't get drunk. When your forced to drink bottles of liquor at a time you don't get drunk anymore. I'm enjoying myself and looking to get laid. It's been a long hot minute since i've gotten some" I say with a grin

"Alyssa" He growls

"Patrick let me ask you something? Have you called my brother?" I ask

He winces and I nod and scowl.

"Thought so. I need his number" I say

He pulls out his phone and I dial it and listen to it ring.

"Hello" He says

"Sammy" I whisper

"Baby" He says

"It's me" I say

"Where are you?" He asks

"Chicago." I say

"Where?" He asks

"The Boston Building apartment 210" I say

"I'll be there in twenty" he says and hangs up

I pace back and forth and twenty minutes later Sam busts in the door. he freezes seeing me but then rushes over and hugs me so tightly it was hard to breathe. I clutched onto him and sighed.

"I missed you" He says

"I missed you too" I say

He let go of me and spun around decking Kaner and I giggle.

"You found her and didn't f*****g call me you deserve worse." Sam spits at him

"I know. I just wanted to get her settled" He says nodding rubbing his jaw

"And saying he don't want s**t to do with me. So here I am." I say

"That's not what I meant" He snarls at me

"No what you meant is that you wanna f**k so you can't have me in your space. And don't lie to me Patrick I know you better than my brother." I say with a smirk

"Hey short stuff let's go for a walk" Nathan says

I nod and he takes my hand and Kaner tenses and I smirk as we leave.

"Let them talk and hash it out. Let's sober you up some and get some ice cream" he says

I nod and link my arm with his and he walks me down the street and gets my ice cream and then walks me back home. Before we get to my door I spin and kiss him. His arms wrap around me and I moan softly when he licks my bottom lip.

"Really Alyssa?" I hear behind me

I spin around and see Kaner and sigh.

"We need to talk" I say to Nathan who nods

We push past Patrick who was pissed and Sam kissed my head as I walked in the door.

"You good?" He asks

"I'm fine bubba." I say hugging him

"It's getting late so i'm gonna head home but i'll call you and set up a day for us" He tells me

"Sounds perfect" I say

He kisses my forehead and leaves everyone starts leaving and Ashley hugs me tight and they leave. I look at Nathan and I walk over and sit down on the couch and sigh.

"I need you to be quiet and let me say this" I say

"Alight" He says nodding

"I like you. I have been through a lot. I was kidnapped for a few years. I was beaten, starved, r***d, drugged and I self harmed. I have scars i'm not proud of. I would like this to go somewhere but it will take time for me. I'm not comfortable with s*x and it could take a while. I'm going to need you to be patient with me" I tell her

"Can I see?" He asks

I hold up my arms to him and he runs his fingers over my scars and brings my arms to his lips and kisses my scars softly. I relaxed under his touch and closed my eyes.

"alright." he tells me

I open my eyes and look at him and offer a small smile.

"I want to shower and get in bed. Will you stay?" I ask softly

"As long as you want me to" He tells me

I stand and offer him my hand and we head to my room.I grab some clothes and shower quickly. When I come out of the shower he was laying on my bed in his clothes watching something on the tv.

"You can get comfy you know" I say

"I didn't wanna make you uncomfortable" He tells me

"Nathan i'm not going to attack you or freak out" I tell him smiling

He chuckles and pulls his shirt over his head and I lick my lips at his abs.

"Keep staring at me like that darlin and things will go faster than you want them to" He tells me while taking off his jeans

I giggle and slide in bed and he follows. He wraps a arm around me and I laid my head on his chest and we watch a movie. I don't know when i fell asleep but I woke up the next morning to whispering.

"Awww so cute" I hear

I don't move I just lay there listening.

"What the hell is taking so long?" I hear Kaner say

"Shh" Hannah shushes

"What the f**k is this?" Kaner shouts

Nathan bolts up and I giggle at him.

"Last time I checked we were sleeping" I say angrily

"Alyssa" He growls

"I'm just a little sister to you Patrick don't forget your own words" I snarl

He flinches and takes a step back.

"We have practice" Shawn says

"s**t i'm coming." Nathan says

He gets dressed quickly and runs over kissing me quick.

"See you at the rink" He shouts as he runs out

I giggle and smile softly. I look up to see Ashley and Hannah looking at me with knowing smiles.

"Spill" They squeal

I tell them everything and the gush over everything. I even told them about me telling him about my past.

"We are happy for you bed. Now get cute as f**k and let's go to the rink" Ashley tells me

I nod and get ready and we head down and when I get there I head to my office and turn on some music. I was dancing and singing while setting up my office. Hands land on my hips and I smirk and continue to move to the music.

"Alyssa" I hear behind me

I spin around to see the coach.

"Hey Coach" I say

I pull out my folder an walk over and hand it to him. He flips through the pictures and smiles.

"It's yours. Now once you sign the contract we pay your housing so let me know where you live" He tells me

"Is practice over?" I ask

"Yeah go on" Coach tells me

I smile and grab my skates and phone and head out. I sit down and put my skates on and then I connect my phone to the bluetooth and turn on some music. I step onto the ice and just start skating. I was singing along to the music just enjoying myself. I don't know how long I skated but I finally was tired so I stepped off the ice and took my skates off and went to fill out my paperwork and gave it to the coach.

"Hey I waited to give you a ride home" Kaner says

"Don't worry about it. Nathan and I are going out" I say not looking at him

"Baby" He says with a sigh

"Don't Patrick. I know Sam told you and I get it. Just let me live my life and you do the same" I say pushing past him

He grabbed my arm and spins me around and I gasp.

"Don't for one f*****g second think I don't love and care about you Alyssa. You have been through hell and back and Sam and I lost it when you disappeared. I want you happy and healthy. I don't need you doing anything stupid because I don't feel that way for you" He growls at me

"Then leave me alone Patrick. You just admitted you don't feel that way for me so leave me alone." I say pulling my arm from his hand

"Baby i love you you know that right?" HE says with a sad face

"Of course. I'm the little sister you never wanted" I say with a sad smile

I took a step back and turned and walked away from him.
