Heartbroken

My name is Kara and I'm 26 years old. I work for Charlie Fox and his wife Linda Fox. I'm a maid and I hated it but they were a rich couple and it paid well and I didn't have to work anywhere else to pay my bills. Over the past 6 months I've been sleeping with Mr. Fox. He was having problems with the wife and the attraction was there for the both of us. I knew it was wrong but my feelings had grew for the man and I was in love with him.

"we have been fighting a lot lately. I'm leaving her. I want you here with me" He says wrapping his arms around my waist

I spin around in shock and he chuckles and kisses me hard. We hear the front door open and we step away from one another and I go back to cooking.

"Hey babe" Linda says walking in smiling

"Hey honey" He says sighing

"Hello Kara" Linda says

"Mrs. Fox" I say nodding

"So I have to go away on a business trip" Linda tells Charlie

"Oh. How long? Cause I have to go on one as well" He tells her

"A week" She says

"Alright i'll only be gone one night so alright" He says not caring it seems

She nods and walks away to pack and i look at him and he winks at me. I shake my head at this man and I sigh. A little while later Linda walks down and kisses Charlie and she leaves.

"I have to leave in a hour and I'll be back tomorrow night. You can just stay here if you want." He tells me

"You sure?" I ask

"Of course. That way you don't have to drive home just to come back a couple hours later. You have a key and the security code you will be fine" He tells me

I nod and I fix his plate and he eats and then heads out. I go around cleaning and doing the laundry and then I curl up on the couch and turn on the TV for a movie.

Time Skip a month later

I was cleaning when i heard Charlie on the phone.

"Of course i'm not leaving Linda for the maid Jason" He says

I suck in a deep breath and tears flood my eyes. I walk away and pack my bag and I walk out sitting down at the bar in the kitchen. I take the key off my key ring and lay it on the counter top. Charlie walks out and looks at me and sees my face and his eyes widen.

"What's wrong?" He asks

"Not leaving her for the maid huh?" I snarl

He gulps and sighs.

"Kara" He says

"I quit" I say picking up my bag and phone

"Kara" He shouts following me

Just as I get closer to the door Linda walks in and stops in her tracks seeing me.

"Kara honey what's wrong?" She asks softly

"I have to quit. I have a family problem and I need to get back to my home town." I tell her sniffling

"Oh no. I'm sorry. Can you spare a minute I wanted to share the good news with you as well" Linda says

I nod and she walks over to Charlie and smiles.

"I'm pregnant" She says grinning

My eyes snaps to him and tears come to my eyes again. I don't even stay to hear the rest of the conversation I just run out getting in my car and leaving.

TIme Skip 4 months later

I had lost everything except my car. I had been living in my car while pregnant. Yes I found out I was pregnant two months after I left the man that lied to me. I was currently working in a diner and I hated it but I needed the money.

"Kara go home early home your exhausted" Hannah tells me

"Hannah I can't" I tell her

"Why not?" She asks

" i need the money" I say

"Kara go home" She says sternly

My bottom lip trembles and she sighs and pulls me to the office.

"Kara sweetie what's going on?" She asks softly

"i don't have anywhere to go" I whisper sniffling

"What?" She asks

"I'm homeless" I tell her bowing my head

"Ed" She shouts

I jump and he runs in looking for trouble.

"Ma'am" He says

"You in charge tonight. Close up please" She tells him

"Of course" He says

She helps me up out of the chair and she takes my keys and helps me in the passenger seat and she gets in the driver seat and drives somewhere. We pull up to a building and she gets out and helps me out and she walks in and we get in a elevator. She takes it to the top and she walks down the long hall to the only down on the floor. She unlocks it and pushed it open and we walk in.

"Where are we?" I ask

"This is the penthouse. Dylan owns it and will be here soon. Dylan moved in with me cause I love my house so this is empty." She tells me

Dylan walks in and kisses Hannah and she smiles.

"Dyl, Kara has a problem and since you own the penthouse could she have it?" Hannah asks

"What kind of problem?" He asks

"I'm pregnant and homeless" I whisper

His eyes widen and he looks at both of us in shock.

"The dad?" He asks

"Doesn't know. I slept with a married man if you must know. I was stupid and fell for he was going to leave the wife for me" I say laughing and then the tears start

I was sobbing and my legs gave out and I felt arms catch me. I was laid down on the couch and Hannah placed a cool cloth on my head.

"kara please stop crying please. You can stay here. It's paid for you don't have to pay any bills just your food. I'll even give you reign over decorating the spare room for a nursery. Just please stop crying" Dylan says with pleading eyes

"Sweetie calm down. Dylan and I will help you any way we can. We can help you out for a few months so you can save your paychecks for the baby. Have you been to the doctor?" She asks me

"No. I'm scared. I didn't have a place to live so I knew they would call social services" I whisper

"Kara yours and this baby's health is important. You are going to the doctor today. I'm calling my friend who is a doctor right now" Dylan snaps and stands up pulling out his phone

I can hear him shouting at someone and he comes back sitting down.

"Alright your appointment is in a hour. I'll go down and bring in your bags and I want you in the shower now" He tells me

I nod softly and look at Hannah who was smiling at the two of us.

"Come on i'll give you a hand" She says helping me up

We walk to the master bedroom and into the bathroom and she starts the water in the tub and I strip. Once I was seated in the tub she washed my hair helping me relax more. The door is pushed open and Dylan walks in and I jump covering myself.

"Calm your t**s. Drink this all before you get out. I laid clothes on the bed. Hurry up" He tells me

I sip the hot liquid in the mug and moan. Hannah giggles and I look at her.

"He is a very demanding man but I love him. Kara honey I know we aren't super close but I would like to change that. You need a friend and I wanna be there for you" She tells me

My eyes get all teary and I nod and offer a smile. I finish the tea off and Hannah helps me out of the tub and into the bedroom so i can get dressed. Once ready Dylan drives us in his SUV to the doctor's office. Hannah helped me fill out all the paper work since I didn't know the apartment address and that stuff.

"Ms. Daniels" a nurse calls

I stand and walk towards her and I turn when Hannah and Dylan aren't following me.

"Are you coming?" I ask

Hannah grins and runs after me and Dylan chuckles and follows along.

"Strip down and put this gown on. The doc will be in soon" the nurse says

Hannah helps me and Dylan helps me onto the table and I lean back sighing. A few minutes later the doc walks in and Dylan shakes his hand.

"Alright legs up so we can check everything out and then we will see how baby is doing" He tells me

I lift my legs into the feet things and open my knees. He sits down and slides a glove on and I feel him push two fingers in me and I hiss and grip Hannah hand. Dylan growls and the doc chuckles. 

"it's normal to feel a pinch if your not sexually active honey. Your fine so far. Ready to see baby?" he asks

I nod and he pulls over the sonogram machine and squirts some gel on my belly and I tremble.

"Cold" I say

He smiles and places the wand on my belly. He moves it around and smiles. He turns the screen and points to something.

"There is your baby. Perfectly healthy and your almost five months. Wanna know?" He asks

I nod with tears in my eyes and he grins.

"It's a girl" he says

a tear slips down my face and Hannah wipes it away.

"I need a favor" I tell the doc sitting up

"What is that?" He asks

"change my due date from my real one. do whatever you have to do." I tell him

"Kara" Dylan says

"Dylan. Her dad is Charlie Fox" I say wincing

His eyes widen and he nods at the doc who nods back.

"kara how?" Dylan asks

"I was their maid" I say shrugging

"I have a plan" Dylan says pulling out his phone

Hannah helps me get dressed and we find out when my next appointment is and we head back to the apartment.

"Tonight we will order in and tomorrow you two can go grocery shopping in Hannah's car while I take yours to the shop and have all the maintenance done on it. Now Xavier will be here any minute. Pizza, chinese, or mexican?" Dylan says

"Mexican please" I say moaning a bit

He chuckles and calls in our order and the man Dylan was talking about walked through the door. We all sit at the table eating and Dylan finally speaks up.

"Kara this is Xavier my business partner. We have known each other since we were kids. I have come up with a plan and Xavier is going to help if you would like. Now from what I can see you don't want that man finding you or your baby. I suggested to Xavier that you two get married and he claim your child. Now i know it sounds weird but if you do this then Charlie can't touch your or that baby. it will keep you both safe" He tells me

"Your ok with this?" I ask the huge man softly

"Dylan why don't you and hannah head home and let us talk. I'll stay here tonight and we will let you know in the morning" He says still looking at me

"Of course." Dylan says pulling Hannah with him

Xavier stands and offers me his hand and I look at it then him and I slowly place my hand in his. We walk over and sit on the couch and he lays a blanket over my legs and he looks at me.

"How?" He asks

"i was stupid. I should have known better. Are you sure about this?" I ask him

"Of course. I'm not into dating and if this helps out my friends then why not. We don't have to sleep together but we will have to live together eventually." He tells me

"Alright" I say nodding

I rub my hand over my small tummy and I see him smiling out of the corner of my eyes. She kicks and I gasp and move my hand where she kicked.

"Wanna feel?" I ask softly

He nods and I take his huge hand place it on my tummy and she kicks and he smiles. I yawn and he stands and scoops me up and I let out a squeak and he chuckles. he carries me to the master bedroom and sits me on the bed. He walks in the closet and comes back with some of my pajamas. He goes in the bathroom closing the door and I change and when he comes back out I was sitting up in the bed under the covers.

"I'll be on the couch if you need me" He says

"Xavier" I call

"yeah" He says looking at me

"Can you just sit here til I fall asleep?" I ask

He nods and comes around the other side of the bed kicking off his shoes and sliding in the bed. I scoot down and he leans over me turning off the lamp and I sigh sinking into the soft bed. I moan feeling my muscles relax for once. I wasn't scrunched up in that tiny back seat for once.

"feel good?" he asks

"You have no idea" I say

"Sleep" He tells me

I yawn and feel myself drift off.

Xavier's POV

I watch her slowly drift off to sleep and I sigh and get up. A hand shoots out and grabs my arm and I look down at her and she has panic all over her face.

"I'm just going to change and i'll be back sweetheart" I tell her

"Promise" She whispers

"I promise" I tell her

She releases my arm and I get up to go change into some shorts and I come back to see her still awake. I lay down on the other side of the bed and she relaxes again. I watch her for the longest time and I feel my eyes slip closed. When I woke up the next morning I felt pressure on me and when I looked down it was Kara fast asleep literally on top of me sleeping peacefully. I ran my fingers through her hair and she moaned softly into my hand. I chuckle and her eyes open and they widen. She scrambles off me scared to death.

"Kara sweetheart. Your fine." I tell her softly

"I'm sorry" She whispers

"Hey your ok. Did you sleep good?" I ask

"Yes" she says looking at her hands

"How about we go get breakfast and wait on Hannah?" I say

There is a knock on the door and she scrambles off the bed and heads to the door. Hannah was standing there with bags in her hands panting. I walk over and take some and carry them to the kitchen.

"I did the shopping and brought breakfast." She says smiling

"Thank you but I could have gone" Kara says

"It's ok. I wanted you to sleep in and it looks like you did. Now sit and eat" She tells her sternly

Kara smiles softly but nods and sits down eating. After a few bites she gets up running to the bathroom. I run after her and find her kneeling in front of the toilet puking. I held her hair back and rubbed her back. Once she was done she flushed and I helped her up and handed her toothbrush to her. Once she was done she looked tired.

"Go lay down on the couch while I get all the paper work we need and go from there. Hannah is going to stay with you while I run out for a few" I tell her

She nods and I wrap my arm around her waist and walk her to the huge couch. I help her down and cover her with a warm fuzzy blanket.

"Hannah I'll be back" I call

"Ok be careful" She calls

I leave and head to the office. I walk in Dylan's office an shut the door.

"It's a go. I need to go get a engagement ring and wedding bands" I tell him

He opens his drawer and throws two boxes at me and I open them and my jaw drops.

"Hannah picked it out." He says

I nod and he hands me the paperwork. I read it over and nod.

"Get hannah to talk to her about planing the wedding" Dylan says

I nod and leave and I head back to the apartment. When I entered Hannah was reading a baby book to Kara's belly. I smiled and walk over trying not to interrupt.

"Hey sweetheart. felling better?" I ask when she sees me

she nods and smiles. I kneel beside the couch and pull a small box out and open it and she gasps.

"You sure?" I ask

"Yes" She says

I take the ring out and slip it on her hand. I take a picture of her hand and post it to my i********: saying I was finally getting married. I look over at Hannah to see her smiling.

"Ok wedding planning time" Hannah says

"Alright" Kara says sitting up

Hannah squeals and runs in the kitchen and comes back with a book and sits down by Kara while I seat in the chair watching.

"Colors?" Hannah asks

"Purple and silver" Kara says

She looks at me and I nod and she smiles.

"Alright. Outside or inside?" Hannah asks

"Outside. The beach" She says

"Really?" I ask

"Yeah. I wanna go barefoot and i'm pregnant so" She says shrugging

"Alright. Food?" Hannah says

"simple but so good. I don't wanna do the five course thing.. Kinda like a bbq. But i want chicken fingers to" Kara says

"I can work with that. Now cake?" hannah says

She hands Kara a book and Kara flips through them and she stops on one and her eyes water. I move over to her and sit down softly wrapping a arm around her waist. I look down at the picture and a tear slips down her face. I look at Hannah and it looked like Hannah was gonna cry. 

"My um mom had this very cake the day she married my dad." She whispers

"Let's do this one." I tell her

Her eyes snap to mine and I smile softly.

"Can we do the flowers purple?" SHe asks

I nod and she smiles.

"Are you gonna invite your parents?" I ask

She shakes her head and hands the book back to Hannah.

"Why not?" Hannah asks

"My parents died in a car crash three years ago. I have a brother but he never wanted anything to do with me." She says shrugging

"I'm sorry sweetie. Maybe you should try." Hannah tells her

Kara hums and leans into me yawning.

"No ma'am no nap. You have to try to eat some lunch first." I tell her

"Hannah did you happen to pick up any watermelon?" She asks

"No I only got bananas and apples" Hannah says

Kara frowns and her bottom lip trembles.

"Hey it's ok i'll run down to the corner store and pick one up." I tell her

"No it's ok" she says

"Sweetheart I don't mind going" I tell her

"Alright she says peeking up at me" I smile at her and kiss her forehead and stand up

"Um can you also pick up some plain m&m's?" She asks

I chuckle and nod and head out the door. I run down to the store and pick up whatever I think she might like and even got a heating pad for when her back starts hurting. When I got back and had all the bags in my hands her eyes widen. I walk over and sit down and start pulling out her chocolate, chips, and other candy and then her heating pad and a pink monkey that I seen that i thought she would like.

"Woah" I hear her whisper

"Well i didn't know exactly what you like so I grabbed some stuff I like and I thought about the heating pad for when your back her and the money I just thought was cute" I say shrugging

"Thank you" She whispers

I nod and take the watermelon to the kitchen and cut it up and place in a bowl and in the fridge to get cold.

"It's in the fridge getting cold" I tell her

"alright." She says

Kara's POV

I was so shocked he was doing all this and he didn't even know me. None of them did really. Just as I went to speak Dylan walked in and sat down.

"We got most of all the details worked out. I'll call the planner in a bit and get her to come over." Hannah says

"hannah can I have a drink please" I say

"Of course. What would you like? I got water, apple juice, tea, kool aid, coke, and i can make hot tea" she says

"Coke please" I say smiling

She nods and brings me a glass full and I take a gulp and moan. I hear chuckles and I look at Xavier laughing.

"what?" I say

"Nothing" He says

"It's so good." I say

Hannah comes back with a bowl of seedless watermelon and my mouth watered. Once it was in my hand I shoved a huge piece in my mouth. My eyes rolled back in my head and I moaned. Juice dripped down my chin but I didn't care. I continued to stuff my with the juicy goodness and sighed when I was done and full. Hannah handed me a wash cloth to clean my hands and mouth and took my bowl to the kitchen.

"Alright nap time" Xavier says lifting me up

He carrying me to bed and lays the blankets over me and turns around walking out. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep feeling content.
