Hockey life

Today is the day I purchased my new business. I bought myself a hockey team. I walked in to the rink and straight to my office to see Lacy already showed up early to have my furniture put in it's place. I smiled and reminded myself to give her a raise. I sighed and turned around and headed down to the rink to watch practice. I sat down and just watched and the coach nodded at me. I nodded back and he ended practice. I stood up and walked out onto the ice and some of the guys whistled. 

"Keep it together boys" I say smirking

"Boys this wonderful woman is your new boss. She is the owner of the Flyers." Coach says smirking

I watch a bunch of jaws drop and I smile sweetly. 

"Keep your comments to yourself and pick your jaws up off the floor. Yes I am the new boss lady and yes gentlemen I am a lady and from now you will follow all the rules or I have no problem cutting anyone. If you don't like it there is the door no one is making you stay and play and get paid. Coach will give you the new rules later today. I have meetings set up with all of you individually for us to chat and get to know one another. So Kane let's start with you. Meet me in twenty" I say 

I turn and walk off the ice and i can feel them staring after me and I smirk. I got back to my office and take a seat and wait on him to come in. I was going through files when a knock sounded on the door. 

"Come in" I say

In walks Kane and he closes the door and I nod for him to take a seat. 

"So Kane I see you have a problem with partying. I understand going out with the boys after a win or lose and having some beers. I'm all for a good beer but no more getting in trouble with the law. It happens again and your out" I say looking him dead in the eye

"what? I'm the captain" He roars

"Don't give two f***s. Your replaceable. Do I make myself clear?" I snap standing up over my desk staring at him

"Crystal" He says through clenched teeth

"Dismissed. Send someone else up" I say 

He gets up and leaves with a slam of the door and I sigh. He's gonna be a major pain in my ass. I slowly made it through meeting the rest of the players and then I headed home. By time I went to bed it was almost one in the morning and I was exhausted. My alarm went off to early the next morning. I quickly got dressed and headed to the office and when I got there my whole office was empty and when i looked on the ice all my furniture was out there and all the guys were standing around laughing. I walked down there and cleared my throat and they all spun around and gulped. 

"Get it back upstairs and then I want everyone out. Rink is on lockdown til I say otherwise or until someone wants to come forward and tell me who done this s**t" I roar

They all flinch and they all look at one another. 

"Fine so be it. everyone out" I snap

I turn and take off back upstairs. 

Kane's POV

All the guys looked at me and I sighed. 

"Fine i'll go tell her." I say

"You better. We aren't gonna pay for your bullshit prank" Sharpie snaps at me and walks off

I sigh and head up to her office. I hear her on the phone so I stop and wait.

"I don't know about this. They are never going to take my seriously cause i'm a woman. I'm a billionaire and I love hockey but maybe this was a mistake." She says

I go to walk in when she talks again. 

"Of course I know I can do this. I have before who do you think made the Terriers who they are. I whipped them into shape into no time and now they are undefeated. Daddy I love hockey hell i'd still be playing if it wasn't for my knee. This is the next best thing for me." She says

I clear my throat and step in the room and she spins around and sighs. 

"Gotta go call you later." She says and hangs up

"Look it was my prank. We do it to all the new owners." I say

"Don't care. Get it back up here." She says and turns her back to me

I see her shoulders slump and I sigh. I go back down and start grabbing some stuff and I take it back up. It took me forever to get it all back in it's place and by time I was done I notice she was gone. I hear music start up and I look down to see her on the ice in skates. She steps out on the ice and takes off and I see a stick in her hand. I pull out my phone and record the moment and when she's done I see her drop down on the ice. I run down and out onto the ice to see her face red and she was gripping her knee. 

"What happened?" I ask kneeling down by her

"DOn't worry about it" She says through gritted teeth

she stands up and makes her way off the ice and takes her skates off and limps back to her office. I sigh and head out to my truck and I drive to my house. I did feel bad about that prank I pulled. As soon as I got home I goggled our new boss. When I typed in her name I was shocked to learn who she was. Her father was my hockey hero and I sighed. 

Danielle's POV

After getting home I iced my knee and took a hot bath and crawled into bed. It took forever to fall asleep that night but before I knew it my alarm was going off. I decided not to go in today and got dressed in one of my more sexy going out outfits. I grabbed my phone, purse and keys and headed to my car. I drove down to the mall to do some retail therapy when I heard Boss. I sighed and turned around. 

"Sharp" I say nodding

"What brings you out on this beautiful day?" He asks 

"Just a little shopping" I say 

"Babe" I hear someone call

Sharp turns and grins and wraps his arm around a small woman. 

"Boss Lady this lovely woman is my wife Haley" Sharp tells me

"Nice to meet you." I tell her

"Daddy" A little one calls

Sharp bends down and scoops up a little girl and I smile.

"ANd this is little one is Rebecca my daughter. Becca can you say Hi" He says

"Hello" She whispers

"Hello to you to sunshine. You know you are so pretty just like your momma" I tell her with a wink

"Thank you" She says grinning 

"Your most welcome sunshine" I say to her

"Why don't you join us for a BBQ at our house today?" Hayley asks

"Oh I don't want to intrude" I say

"Pwease" Becca begs

"Now I can't say no to that face. Alright I will be there. What do I need to bring?" I ask

"Just your swim suit and yourself. If you like to drink probably your choice of drink. All we have is beer" Sharp tells me

"Sounds great. And I guess you can call me Danielle. If we are going to hang out outside the rink I think Boss Lady is a little much" I say with a smirk

"Sounds good." He says 

"Alright well you have my number text me the details and i'll finish up here and meet you guys later" I say and nod and walk off

I do some shopping and buy a few new suits and then I hear my phone ding. I quickly run home to drop my bags off and I slip on my black bikini and slip on some shorts and a loose one shoulder shirt that shows off my belly and I head over to Sharpie's house. When i get there I knock and Haley answers the door. 

"Danielle nice of you to make it. I'm glad your here. The boys are driving me crazy" She says pulling my inside

I laugh and we walk in the kitchen and everyone gets quiet seeing me and I sigh. 

"Boys" I say nodding to them

"Danielle. Drink?" Haley asks

"Beer please" I say

She smiles and grabs one and hands it to me and I crack it open and gulp down a few gulps and sigh. Everyone was looking at me in shock.

"What?" I ask 

"Nothing. Becca" Sharpie calls

She comes running in and sees me and squeals. SHe takes off and Sharpie goes to warm me and I laugh and sit my beer down and catch her and toss her in the air. She laughs and I giggle with her and sit her on my hip. 

"You came" She squeals 

"I did. I promised I would sunshine" I tell her

I look over to see everyone in shock. 

"What?" I ask

"She likes you" Hayley says

"SO?" I say confused

"She doesn't take to new people well" Sharpie says

"Well i'm awesome" I say smirking

"Alright missy back to your room to play" Hayley tells Becca

"But mommy" She whines

"No maam go" She tells her pointing down the hall 

"Okay" She says 

I put her down and she runs off and I laugh a little. 

"Come on let's go outside" Hayley says

I grab my beer and follow her out and I feel the guys watching my ass and I smirk. Hayley sits down and I sit down by her and sigh. All the boys join us and Sharpie starts up the grill. Music is turned on and I smile and hum along and drink my beer. 

"So Danielle so your famous" Hayley says

"No i'm not. I have built what i have from the ground up. I changed my last name when i started out and then my identity was leaked so I had to switch my last name back and here I sit. I love hockey and I'd still be playing if it wasn't for my knee but s**t happens" I say shrugging

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude" She says 

"No it's fine. Everyone is curious but i'm guessing you know who my dad is so yeah" I say shrugging and finishing off my beer 

Sharpie walks over and hands me another beer and takes my empty bottle and I nod at him. 

"Thanks" I say

"No problem. So who is up for a swim?" Sharpie says

"Danielle?" Hayley asks taking off her dress

I nod and stand and remove my shorts and then my shirt and I hear gasps. I knew you could see my abs but scars as well. I tense and try to breathe through my nose in deep breaths. I quickly pick up my shirt and turn around to put it on and a hand lands on my arm. I look over and see Hayley staring at me. 

"It's ok" She whispers

"No it's not" I grumble and slip my shirt back on

I step back into my shorts and then flip flops and grab my keys and head for the door. 

"Danielle" I hear behind me

I stop to see Sharpie coming towards me. 

"Yeah?" I say clearing my throat

"It's ok. No need to hide. We all have things we aren't proud of. Yours may be visible but it doesn't matter to us." He tells me

My eyes feel with tears and he sighs and yanks me into his huge frame and hugs me tightly. 

"Thank you" I whisper

"Anytime. Now stop hiding and come for a swim and besides you have been drinking" He tells me

I nod and he wraps a arm around my shoulders and leads me back out. I look over at Hayley and she winks at me and I offer her a small smile. She waves me over and Sharpie nudges me towards her. i walk over and kick my shoes off and pull my shorts off and I hesitate with my shirt. 

"Leave it on if your uncomfortable" I hear in my ear

I look over to see Kane and nod and I walk over to Hayley and sit down and put my feet in the water.

"You ok?" She asks softly

"I am. Sharpie helped. Thanks for sending him after me" I tell her

"I didn't but I'm glad he helped. He helped me with my issues and it seems he's gonna help you with yours" She says and something flashes across her face

"Hayley it's not like that" I start to say

"Oh sweetie I know. he can't help but want to help. I'm not mad or anything." She tells me wit ha smile

Scrubs starts playing and I look at Hayley and wa start laughing. I start singing along and she joins me. By time we were done all the guys were looking at us and Hayley was smiling at me. 

"Your voice is amazing" She tells me

"Thank you. It's a hobby." I tell her

"Alright you time to go in" Kane says lifting me up

"Kane no put me down" I scream

He tenses and sits me on my feet and he looks at me scared. 

"Sorry I have a problem being lifted." I say rubbing my arm nervously

"I'm sorry. I didn't know." He says taking a step back

"Its ok." I say rubbing my arms

"Ok let's make this more clear for everyone. Dont sneak up on her, dont pick her up, and stop staring. She's human not alien." Hayley shouts

I tense and a arm wraps around my waist and Hayley smiles at me. I look up to see sharpie looking down at me.

"Thank you" I whisper

"The wife would kill me if I didn't help" he says kissing the top of my head

"She is great. I love her already" I say watching her talk with some of the others

"She is amazing. I had to beg her to go on a date with me and then beg her to marry me. She refused to look at me right away but I softened her up and five years later I still wake up to her every morning" he says while smiling

" I miss that" I say

"What a relationship?" He asks

"Being married" I say

He looks at me in shock and I sigh.

"No one knew. We hid it from the press. They only thought we were dating. God I loved him with everything in me." I say

"What happened?" Sharpie asks

"Killed over seas" I mumble

"Damn." Sharpie says

I start laughing and he looks at me like I'm crazy.

" your the first person not to push the I'm sorry in my face" I say with a shrug

"Is that what the tat is for?" He asks

"So you seen huh?" I say

"Well I wasnt staring but when you stretched it peeled out" he says

I turn and lift my left boob and lean back a bit. He looks down and reads it and smiles.

"Hey stop flashing my husband" hayley yells

I whirl around to find her grinning and I laugh.

"Please your t**s put mine to shame" I tell her

"Well damn. Yours are way more perky tho" she says with a pout and i laugh

"Good bras babe" i say

"Now i wanna see" she says walking over

I sigh and lift again and she gasps and covers her mouth.

"Its beautiful. " she says with teary eyes

I nod and smile sadly.

"Hey why didn't you let me compare" sharpie snaps us out of our moment

I laugh and so does hayley so I stand beside her andsmirk. His eyes widen and we both start laughing.

"Joking sweetie. Calm down. Or actually have Halss calm it down" I say dropping my gaze below his waist

Hayley laughs and kisses him and i giggle.

"Well if i hadn't heard it or seen it i wouldn't believe it." I hear

I whirl around and my jaw drops.

"X" i say in shock

"Hello gorgeous " he says opening his arms

I take off running and leap at him wrapping myself around him. I was sniffling and he hugged me close and rubbed my back.

"How did you find me?" I ask

He looks at me with the are you serious look and I sigh.

"Trigger " I say

"Yup. Now show me some love" he says

I laugh and kiss all over his face.

"Holy s**t I've missed you" I say jumping down

Throats clear and I whirl around and grin.

"X this is my team and some of their wives and girlfriends. Guys this overly to good looking man is Xavier. He is my husband best friend." I say

"Husband?" Kane says in shock

"He um passed" I say

He drops his eyes and they all bow their heads in respect.

"Good to meet you. Treating my number one girl good?" X asks

"Trying to if she would let us" sharpie says with a glare

"Hey it's not as easy as it sounds" i say

"Never is Dani" x tells me

I lean into him and he wraps his arms around me and I smile.

"Stay for dinner please." Hayley says

"Wish I could. I'm only here for a pit stop" X tells me

"What?" I ask in shock

"Duty calls D. I got 24 hours that's it and momma is my next stop." He tells me

My bottom lip quivers and he sighs.

"Hey now D no tears. I'm fine babe. Just 3 more months and I'm home for good. I'm not going back out in the field since my time is almost up. Just me and the barracks from now on till I'm home. I can call you more frequently now I promise." He tells me

I bid into his chest and he kisses the top of my head and hugs me tight. So tight I almost can't breathe but I dont dare open my mouth. He pulls away but I stay latched on.

"D baby you have to let go" he tells me I shake my head and he sighs

"Your gonna have to hold her" He says above me

"Come on now darlin let go." I hear in my ear

"Just a warning she's gonna lose her s**t so dont give her a hard time" X says

He pulls back roughly and my grip slips but I catch his hand. Tears were pouring down my face and he looked so broken to leave me.

"I'll be back as soon as I can" he says kissing the back of my hand

Kane locks onto me and pulls my hand off Xavier's and I lose it when he walks away.

"Come on now darlin it's ok. Calm down sweetheart." Kane whispers in my ear

"Go lay down with her" I hear

I was picked up and carried upstairs and laid down on a soft bed. I was still crying and Kane slid in bed with me and just held me for the longest time.
