Kelsea's POV

I was at work minding my own business when my brother walked in. He was the sheriff and I sighed.

"Hey Kels" He says kissing my forehead

"Hello little brother" I say smiling

"Very funny. So I need to tell you something" He says

"alright" I say looking up at him

"Greyson is coming back." He says

"What?" I whisper shout

"Yeah. Big FBI job." He says

"But it's been ten years and he aint been back once" I snap

"I know sis I know." He says sighing

"Brady I can't" I tell him

"Go home to Danny and spend a few days with her. We can cover it here. One less cop won't make a difference." He says

"Alright yeah ok" I say getting my things

"Are you ever gonna follow dress code?" Brady asks

"No of course not. I'm a female" I say smiling

He nods and shoos me out the door. When i get home Marcy stands up in shock that i'm home early.

"Wow. She's upstairs doing her homework." She tells me

"Thank Marcy. I have the next week off so I won't need you" I tell her

"Of course Kels. But let's do dinner one day this week then i've missed you" she says

"Sure Mar. I would love that" I say hugging her

"Maybe send Danny to Brady and let's do a whole girls night" She says

"I'm sure he will take her one night" I say

she smiles and leaves and I go up to check on her and see her working hard.

"Hey my smart girl" I say kissing the top of her head

"Hey mommy. Your home early" She says

"I am. You get me for a week. And one night your gonna go over to uncle Brady's" I tell her

"Yay. Can Aunt Cassie come over that night?" She asks

"You will have to ask Uncle B love" I tell her

She nods and leans into me sighing.

"Hey how about we forget this and you can play hookey tomorrow and let's have our date night tonight" I tell her

"Okay" She says smiling

"Can you get ready alone while mommy gets ready?" I ask

"Can we invite uncle B?" She asks

"Sure it's your night. Get dressed and call him" I tell her

She nods and she quickly gets ready and I can hear her talking to him while i get ready. When I head down Brady was pulling into the driveway. He comes up and catches Danny as she launches herself at him. He easily catches her and smiles at her.

"Uncle B can I come over this weekend?" She asks

"Of course cupcake. I'll even call Cassie" he says with a tight smile

"Thank you" she says hugging him

"Ready?" I ask closing the door

They nod and we head into town for dinner.

"Can we get ice cream?" Danny asks

"Sure cupcake" Brady says

He snatches her up and she squeals as he places her on his shoulders. When we get close to the ice cream shop he puts her down and she runs ahead to the door. We get our ice cream and walk around to the town for a bit when i spot Greyson. He sees Brady and walks over. I still had my wedding ring on and I sighed.

"Brady man. Good to see you" Greyson says

"You too man. How you been?" Brady asks

"Good Man. Kelsea" Greyson says nodding at me

"Greyson" I mumble

"Mommy" Danny says running at me

I grin and scoop her up spinning her around.

"Mommy?" Greyson says

"Yeah this is my daughter Danielle" I say rolling my eyes

"Hey cupcake let's go to the swings" Brady says

She nods and I sit her down and she runs after him giggling. I smile and watch them tilting my head.

"How old is she?" He asks

"7" I say

"Oh" He says

"You really didn't think i was going to wait around for you did you? I moved on with my life. I fell in love with a wonderful man that gave me a baby that means the world to me." I snarl

"So where is her father?" He snaps back

"Well my husband is away" I say moving my hand so he can see my ring

Hurt flashes across his face and I smirk.

"That's right Greyson I really moved on. He treats me better than you ever did. How's Paula by the way?" I ask rubbing it in further

"what?" He asks shocked

"Oh come on don't play dumb. I know about you cheating with that w***e. I saw you two in her house. why do you think I let you leave Greyson?" I ask

"But I didn't" He says

"You did Greyson that's why it was so easy for me to let you go. You broke me months before you left. But I don't care anymore" I say

"Kelsea" He says sighing

"Goodbye Greysn. And please keep your distance from me and my child while your here" I say walking away

I go over to my brother and daughter and I sigh.

"You made him think Hunter was still here didn't you" Brady asks

"Yeah I did. But I won't feel bad about loving someone else" I say

"And you shouldn't. But sis saying he is here won't bring him back" He tells me

"I know" I say sighing

"Come on Dani let's go home." I say

She runs over and grabs my hand and we head home.

Time Skip two months later

I was out grocery shopping when I bumped into Greyson and I sighed. I walked around him and finished my shopping. I paid for everything and loaded it into my truck when I heard a voice I hated.

"Hi Kelsea" Paula says

I nod and pull out m keys unlocking my door.

"Kelsea" I hear Greyson shout

"Oh my Greyson I didn't know you were back" Paula says

"I am but not for you" He snarls at her

"You weren't saying that when you were dating her" Paula snarls back

"Paula we never did anything." Greyson says sighing

"How does it feel to know I f****d him and I tried with Hunter but he died before I got the chance" Paula laughs

I saw red and swung around decking her in the eye. I swung again and hit her in the mouth. She hit the ground and I crawled on top of her and grabbed her fake ass blonde hair and yanked her to me.

"If you ever mention my man again I will f*****g bury you myself. If you come within 100 feet of me or anyone I care about I will kill you myself. and now sweetie it's not a threat it's a promise. Now go back to your druggie boyfriend and stay where the f**k you belong or so help me god I will make sure you pay and you will be someone b***h" I snarl in her face

She whimpers and I throw her down and I get up grabbing my keys and I climb in my truck. When I get home I put everything away and there is a knock on my door. I walk over and open it and Greyson stands there and I open it and let him in.

"Are you ok?" He asks softly

I take a seat and place my head in hands and sigh.

"Yeah I'm fine" I mumble

"So he passed?" Greyson asks

"Yes he did. CIA. I lost the one person I ever loved that way. He gave me a part of him that I don't spend near enough time with but when your a single parent you do whatever you have to for your child" I say

"Kels you could have just told me that. I never would have judged you." He tells me

"Greyson you don't know me anymore and I don't know you. I want it to stay that way. I don't want another relationship or marriage. I'm perfectly happy like I am. I don't wanna love again." I tell him

Hurt crosses his face and He nods anyways.

"But you could use a friend" He says

A tear slips down my face and he sighs and pulls me in his arms and hugs me tightly to him. I don't know how long I cried but I cried myself to sleep. When I woke up again I heard voices.

"She cried herself to sleep after telling me everything. Brady I refuse to add anymore hurt to her life. Yeah I know we both thought it was a good idea to try to be with her again but I can't do that to her. She's still hurting and I refuse to add to that." Greyson says

"Look man I know how bad it hurt her to lose Hunter. But she can't keep doing this. Hell she even pushes Dani off on me and I have a life as well." Brady says

I get up and sneak around the corner and watch them.

"Brady that's messed up man. that's your niece and she is beautiful and loves you. So what if she wants to spend time with you. I bet your the only male in her life and she's trying to fill that void in her life. " Greyson whispers harshly

"I don't care. She isn't mine. My dumbass sister needs to get her s**t together and deal with her own brat" He snaps

"Get the f**k out of my house right now" I scream walking in

Brady looks up in shock and just stands there. I swing and deck him in the eye.

"Kels" Brady says

"Get the hell out Brady and don't f*****g come back ever again" I snarl

He gulps but leaves and the tears start again.

"Kels I know now isn't the time but maybe you need to move and get a fresh start" Greyson says

"Where to?" I ask

"Anywhere babe" He says and I flinch

"s**t sorry. It's natural" He mumbles

"S'ok. what about my job?" I whisper

"well there are two reasons I come here. One was for a job but the other was to talk to you about joining the FBI. They have been watching you and want you on the team. My team to be exact" He tells me

"So I would move to?" I ask

"Cali" he says

"Get me on a video call with the boss" I say

he nods and pulls out his laptop and emails his boss. a few minutes later I was sitting there talking to the boss. In the middle of it Dani runs in.

"One second sir. Dani go with Greyson and start your homework while mommy finishes this ok" I tell her

"Ok Mommy." She says and Greyson leads her out

"Sorry sir. My daughter just got home from school. now my last point is I am a mother. I don't care if i'm on a case or not if something happens with Dani I will leave and be back when my home life is situated. I may have to take leave sometimes if she is sick and I want it in my contract that I can't be fired if I have to leave for Dani." I tell him

"Done. Moving expenses will be giving and we will fly you out for a week to look for a house." He tells me

"Alright sounds good to me. Let's not start any of this til next week though. I need to explain to Dani and my current job" I say

"Understood. It's going to be great working with you Kelsea. Seen you soon" he says and hangs up

I get up and walk in the living room to see Dani giggling at greyson.

"You almost done?" I ask

"We are done mommy. Greyson showed me a quicker and faster way to get my answer and i didn't have to use the calculator." She squeals

"That's great baby. Now run on up and change and we will go our for dinner tonight" I tell her

She nods and gathers her things and then hugs Greyson.

"Thank you for helping me" She tells him

"Your welcome cupcake. Glad i could help" He says

She smiles and runs off to her room giggling.

"Thank you for helping her." I say

"it's no problem" He says

"You called her cupcake" I say softly

"Yeah she reminds me of you so it seemed to fit" He says shrugging

"That's what I call her" I tell him

"really?" He asks shocked

"Yeah. She has everything from Hunter and I wanted her to have a little piece of me" I say smiling

"So how did it go?" He asks

"I start moving next week. This week is going to be packing and telling Dani and Brady that I quit" I mumble

"I can help with the packing while you deal with that." Greyson offers

"greyson" I say sighing

"Kels just let me help. and I will be here if your not back yet so Dani isn't alone and you know me." He says

"fine. But don't go through my room or the office. I need to do those myself" I mumble

"Understood." He says nodding

"Wanna join us for dinner?" I ask

"Are you sure?" he says

"Of course. Dani seems to have taken a liking to you" I say smiling

"She is amazing. Kels. Your doing a great job" He tells me

"I wish I could do better" I mumble

"Kelsea that little girl thinks you sit on the moon. Your doing great. Don't ever doubt yourself when it comes to her. She already thinks your a hero cause your a cop. She knows you have to work to take care of her. She's in school so that helps her mind of you not being here. And I will make sure your home every night to have dinner with her." He tells me

"why are you helping me?" I ask

He sighs in ad kneels in front of me.

"Kelsea you were and are the only woman I have ever loved in any type of way. I see you in her and I want her happy and I want you happy. This is what is best for the both of you and my mother will be around if you ever need a sitter" He says

I nod and sigh and he leans forward kissing my forehead.

"Mommy" Dani calls

"What baby?" I ask

"Ready" She says

I smile and stand and we head out to dinner. I stop in front of the police station after dinner and I take out my badge and gun.

"Can you wait here with her?" i ask Greyson

He nods and I head inside. I walk to Brady's office and slam my gun and badge down on his desk startling him.

"Kelsea" He says

" I quit" I say

I turn and walk out and back to my truck. Once we got to the house Dani was asleep so Greyson carried her in and i sighed. He placed her in her bed and kissed her forehead.

"Goodnight cupcake" He whispers

He comes out closing the door and when he sees me he jumps.

"Lord Kels you scared the s**t outta me" He says

"Sorry. Thank you for putting her to bed." I say

"Of course. Well i'll be here tomorrow to help pack" He says

I nod and we head down and when he opens the door Brady was standing there.

"Leave" I snap

"Why are you quitting? You need this job" He snaps at me

"No I don't. I found a new one and we are moving next week" I tell him

"Where?" He asks

"None of your business. My life is no longer your concern." I say shutting the door in his face

I sigh and slump against the door. Before I knew it I was off my feet and being carried upstairs. I placed on the bed and Greyson walked in the bathroom and came back a few minutes later. he scooped me up again and the sat me on the counter. He removed my socks and shoes and then my shirt and then he stood me up and removed the rest of my clothes. He placed me in the tub and walked out closing the door. I laid there for a while before I washed up and got out. When I entered the bedroom I slip on the clothes that were laid on the bed and walked down to find Greyson asleep on the couch. I sighed and walked over covering him up and kissing his cheek. When I stood back up he was looking up at me.

"Thank you" I whisper

"Anytime cupcake" He says smirking

I roll my eyes and head upstairs and crawl in bed.
