THE LETTER

Princess Deveika's POV
I just received a message from Katie. I guess it won't take long for me to be admitted in the academy. I can finally see the outside world. I'm so delighted.
I am now sitting in my bed thinking about something mysterious. It was mentioned by Katie that the Dean would help me. I mean, why would she? Does she even know me? Who is she? Do I know her? While I was muddling over the mystery, my room suddenly swung open. It is my father, the King.
I stood up and bowed before him, "Your majesty", I greeted.
"My dear, there's no need for formality when it's just the two of us here", he said while walking closer to me.
"Why are you here father?", I asked while filling over a cup of tea and offered it to him.
We both take a seat then he suddenly take my hand.
"You are already sixteen. I can't imagine how time flies so fast. Look at you. You look so pretty as ever", he said. I cannot utter any words. "I know I have been so hard on you for many years. Believe me it's for your own good. You know it's dangerous outside and your magical power is very low. I cannot risk your safety.", he continued.
I knew it all along. It's not that I don't understand him it's just that I want to live a free life, not just stay in this palace forever. I envy my cousins so much. They get to live freely and they were even given the chance to study which is the greatest privilege of all.
"I know father but I can't just live here forever. I want to see the world and I have dreams too", I replied.
"I know my dear. That's why I'm here to tell you something. I got you this", he said and handed over an envelope to me. I excitedly open the envelope and was surprised.
Princess Deveika,
I have received your application and was delighted to inform you that you have been accepted in the Academy of Magic. I am expecting your arrival in the academy as soon as possible.

Tears pour down my face as I read the most precious letter I have received in my entire life. I embraced my father and thanked him for giving me the chance to study in the academy.
"Thank you so much father. I can't explain how happy I am right now.", I gratefully said.
"I just want you to do something in return", he said.
"What is it father?", I asked.
"I want you to avoid troubles and wear this always", he said and handed me a gold necklace with a crescent moon with star on the center as the pendant. It's very beautiful. "It will protect you once you encounter danger. You must keep it well.", he continued.
"Thank you father", I said. I tried to put on the necklace myself when he offer to put it on my neck.
"It looks perfect on you", he said and pinched my cheek lightly.
I look myself in the mirror with a smile plastered on my face. I really looks good on me. I am really overjoyed by the sudden changes in my life.
"Well, get ready. I will accompany you tomorrow on the academy. Sleep early okay?", he said and patted my head.
"I will father", I excitedly said.
My father left the room. I cheerfully jumped on my bed like a child. Finally I'm gonna study in the academy!
I prepared all my important stuff and put it on my magic luggage. I looks small it's magical for it can store all my things with no limit. I think I can even fit myself into it.
It was almost midnight when I finished preparing my things. I was exhausted and lay myself to bed until I dozed off.
