I sank deep into the bedding, sleeping heavily; cozy and relaxed.
Suddenly, Laural’s panicked shout crashed in. “Something’s bad, Princess Nina! Elder Mya fainted—her condition is critical!”

I jolted upright, still groggy.
How could Mya be in trouble? Just yesterday morning, she’d seemed fine when we talked.
Almost on reflex, I threw the covers off, tugged my clothes on any which way, and bolted from the bedchamber.
“What exactly happened?” I asked as I ran.
Laural hurried after me. “I’m not sure. Princess Lily went to Elder Mya’s palace this morning, and then... Elder Mya suddenly collapsed.”
