Chapter 6: The Secret Behind My Parents' Death

530 Words
Emerald's POV The moment Victor left the room, I realized something. For the first time in my life... I was not afraid of him. I still remembered the years of pain. The countless times he made me feel worthless. The nights I cried silently because no one cared. But something had changed. I was no longer the girl who had no one. I had Lucian. And somehow, that thought gave me courage. But one question kept returning to my mind. What was Victor hiding? I looked at Lucian. "You knew something about my parents, didn't you?" His expression became serious. "I know there are things that were hidden from you." "Why?" He was silent for a moment. "Because someone wanted you to remain powerless." My heart tightened. Powerless. That was exactly how everyone had treated me. Like I was nothing. "Tell me the truth, Lucian." He looked into my eyes. "I will. But first, you need to understand something." He took my hand gently. "Your parents were not ordinary." I frowned. "My father was Alpha Luke." "Yes. But he was more than just an Alpha." I waited. "Your father was one of the few people who believed wolves and vampires could live together peacefully." I looked away. "My whole life, I was told vampires were our enemies." Lucian's expression darkened. "That is what they wanted everyone to believe." My eyes widened. "What do you mean?" Before he could answer, a sudden pain went through my chest. I grabbed my heart. "Emerald!" Lucian caught me immediately. The room started spinning. Then... I saw something. A memory that wasn't mine. A woman with beautiful eyes that looked like mine. My mother. She was holding me as a baby. Someone was standing beside her. A vampire. But they weren't enemies. They were allies. My mother's voice echoed. "Promise me you will protect her." The vampire answered: "I will protect her until my last breath." The vision disappeared. I opened my eyes. Tears filled them. "My mother..." Lucian looked worried. "What did you see?" I swallowed. "She trusted a vampire." Silence filled the room. Lucian looked shocked. "Are you sure?" I nodded. "She wasn't afraid of him." My wolf stirred inside me. "The truth has been buried." I looked at Lucian. "My parents knew vampires." He nodded slowly. "And that means the war between our races may have been built on a lie." A cold feeling entered my heart. If that was true... Then everything I believed about my life was wrong. Suddenly, the door opened. A royal guard rushed inside. "My prince!" Lucian turned. "What happened?" The guard bowed. "Someone attempted to enter the palace records." Lucian's expression changed. "Which records?" The guard hesitated. "The records about the Blue Moon Pack war." My heart stopped. "Why would someone want those?" Lucian looked at me. Because we both knew the answer. Someone was afraid of the truth coming out. And whoever that person was... They had been hiding for twenty years. Lucian squeezed my hand. "Emerald." I looked at him. "We are going to find out what happened to your parents." I nodded. But deep inside... I already knew. The truth would change everything.
