Met at the mall

Chapter 20 Three weeks later at the shopping mall "We're here, ma'am," The cabby's voice jolts Nadia from her deep thought, and she snaps her head to see that they're already in front of the mall. "Sorry, I spaced out," She smiles creepily at the man as she hops out of the car and pays him before he finally drives away. She sighs briefly before she walks over to the entrance door of the mall, and pushes it open, walking in afterward. For the last three weeks, she has been treading with care in the mansion, and she has also been trying so hard not to do anything that'll get either of the twins angry. It's Saturday today, and since Patty took a few days off to go take care of her sick mom in another city, the responsibility of the house has shifted on her since then. She has been overworked at home, but Travis promised to pay more money to her. Walking over to the counter, she picks a basket and sets to start shopping. Walking around the mall endlessly is tiring and annoying as she has to be looking for things to buy one after the other. They could just give her a list of things to buy, right? But Trevor insisted that she do the shopping herself. It's her first time being to this beautiful and classy mall, so it's kind of difficult to find her way around here and get the things she needed. After spending almost an hour, walking around the mall, she finally spots the ketchup she has been searching for, and they're only two remainings, which is the amount she needs too. "Finally," She mutters as she pushes the trolley toward the shelf, and raises her hand to pick it up from the shelf, but a hand picks up the two bottles, leaving her hand hanging in the air. She bites her bottom lip and takes a deep breath, trying to control herself from yelling at the top of her voice. Didn't the person see her here? Is the person so dumb and blind that he or she didn't see her reaching for them first before they got snatched away from her? She finally turns around to see a young man graced in black trousers and a button-down long-sleeve shirt, standing behind her while having his gaze on the bottles in his hand. "Excuse me?" She calls his attention, not bothering to check him out, and he raises his gaze to her. Now that his pair of gray eyes are piercing into hers, her mouth drops open in shock as she stares at him. His blonde hair is messy with some strands resting on his forehead, but he even looks super hot. For some seconds, she scrutinizes him with her eyes, and he has the perfect height, just like Trevor and Travis. What the hell! "You're excused," His voice snaps her out of her thought, and she blinks her eyes and sighs briefly. "I was going to pick that..." "But I did first," He shrugs, dropping the bottles of ketchup in the trolley basket. "You saw me struggling to get it, didn't you? That's unfair. You should return it to me," She protests, and he scoffs. "You were struggling for it, and I got it first. I'm sorry, miss. I need this ketchup, as much as you need them. I have been roaming the mall for hours in search of this, and I finally found it..." "You're not the only one that has been searching for it. I have been doing that too. Can you give it back and stop being unfair to me?" She tries to convince him, but he only rolls his eyes. "I am not being unfair, miss. I picked them up first, and..." "I was here first. Ladies first, you should treat a woman nicely," She cuts him off, and he sighs briefly. "You can have them. Thank your luck that I'm a gentleman," He says proudly as he picks up the two bottles and drops them in her basket. "Am I supposed to say thanks for that? Anyway, thanks for giving them to me," She says to him sarcastically before pushing the trolley away, while he stares at her until she's out of his sight. His name is Nate Hughes, the twenty-nine years old CEO of 'Key to your heart' group of company, a site designing company. "What an interesting girl," He shakes his head before he pushes the trolley to the next section of the mall. By the time he's done shopping, Nadia already left the mall, so he just pays for the things he bought, and left afterward. As he drives down the road a few minutes later, the sound of his ringing phone pulls his attention, and he pulls over at the side of the road when he sees that it's his assistant on the phone. "Any news, Zora?" He asks as soon as he answers the call. "Yes, Sir. I have been able to speak with Trevor Bradford, but he's not ready to sign the contract. I tried to convince him, but he didn't want to listen to me," His assistant's feminine voice sounds through the phone, and he sighs briefly as he rests his head on the headrest. "Schedule an appointment for us in my free time. I'll meet him personally," He says to her on the phone. "Alright, Sir. I will do that right away," The call hangs up afterward, and he drops his phone on the seat beside him. This contract s**t between him and Trevor has been ongoing for months now, but the bastard won't sign it for some reason best known to him. If not that this is so important to him, he would've given up already. Taking a deep breath, he starts the car engine, but his phone rings again before he even set the car in motion. "Who's this again?" He whines angrily, reaching out for the phone, but he rolls his eyes when he sees who the caller is. "I have been calling you all day, why didn't you answer?" A feminine voice sounds from the other end, and he almost screams out his frustration. "What is it, mom?" He groans. "Why have you been avoiding me?" The voice asks, and he rolls his eyes. "Mom, why should I not avoid you when everything you do now is talking about Janice all the time? I'm sick and tired of this. I told you that I'm not interested in this relationship anymore, but you keep forcing me into it. What is it?" He lets out his frustration. "I'm waiting for you in your apartment. Come home soon, and we'll talk about it," The call drops dead afterward, and he sighs briefly. The past three months have been the worst days of his life as his mom wouldn't stop pushing him to marry his girlfriend of three years. Yes, they have been together for many years, but he suddenly lost interest in her recently because of her constant nagging, and the feeling doesn't seem to be there anymore, but his mom won't just stop trying to get them to be together at all cost. "What's she up to now?" He asks himself as he drives down the road...
