Chapter10

Ethan POV An occurrence? Whoa! It had to be the Southern Hills charity event! These days, he works a lot there. Whoa, that's fascinating. Who would have thought? My dad mentioned that you two met through a common friend. " he stated. "Oh. Indeed, we did. Both of us are familiar with the owner. I mean, obviously. He oversaw me." I chuckled while secretly worrying that our tales didn't add up. "That makes sense. Well, I'm happy that our paths happened to cross," grinning, he said. "I am too." Glad he didn't ask me any questions. As soon as we arrive at the restaurant parking lot, he exits the car and opens my door for me before I can even gather my belongings. This guy had a lot of charm. "You're too nice," I grinned as I stated. "Is there such a thing as being too nice?" He laughed as he asked. "Well, I guess not. I enjoy it. "Let's go and eat, shall we?" he grinned. The eatery was elegant. I think it was the nicest spot I've ever been to. Scanning the choices was nearly frightening. These dinners cost more than thirty dollars each, with the majority costing between forty and fifty dollars on average. Even the appetisers that I searched for were about twenty dollars. "This place is really lovely, Ethan. Are you certain it's not too much, though? If you want, we can go somewhere less expensive." I suggested it while feeling bad. "Is this expensive?" he smiled as he asked. "All right, that's correct. Kind of." I chuckled. "Perhaps I was just not aware of it." It's okay if you choose not to eat here. You can take us wherever you want. He answered. "No, no, no. Simply said, I don't want you to feel like you have to pay for this since it's quite expensive." "You are invited to this place tonight. If you don't want to eat here, that's okay too. Look at the pricing no more; let me handle the details. All I want is for you to enjoy yourself." He grinned. In response, I grinned. I had never been with someone as kind as this guy. In addition, he was really attractive. I just can't help but feel bad since I'm making money and he's spending money on me. "Tell me more about you," I uttered, attempting to dispel those ideas. "I think I'm running out of things to say." He chuckled. "Tell me anything at all. I'd like to know everything. I answered. "Hmm...what else is there?" He said as he was thinking aloud. "I'll ease the burden for you. I'm going to ask you several inquiries. Consider it a sort of speed dating. I chuckled. "Alright, shoot." Grinning, he said. "Favorite music?" "Alternative." "Favorite movie?" he asked in return. That one is challenging. I have a strong affection for The Notebook." He chuckled and showed off his brilliant teeth. I'm down for a dude who enjoys girl films. But The Notebook is way overrated, I have to admit. The movies and books of Nicholas Sparks were superior to that one. " I answered. "I'm a man who loves romance; what more can I say? But don't undervalue how much I adore Rom-Coms. All of those films I have seen." He gave a wink. I looked away from him as I flushed. "You're beautiful; have I already told you that tonight?" He chuckled. "I think you mentioned it once or twice," I responded, reddening even more. More about you, please. Which movies and music are your favorites? " He inquired. "I enjoy classical and alternative music. In terms of cinema, I prefer seeing scary films," I answered. "I hate scary movies." "It's hard to dislike scary movies? They truly are incredible." "All right, let me clarify. I can make terrifying films. Alien ghosts, I can handle that. I will puke now if you add gore to the mix. I have a very weak stomach when it comes to blood and gore, which is pretty embarrassing." He answered. "That's why you went to school for business and not anything in the medical field, right?" Startled by what he told me, I laughed. That is the reason. I was brought to this body museum by my dad when I was about twelve or thirteen years old. His dream was for me to become a doctor. Actual human body parts are taken here, preserved, and displayed for public viewing. It truly is quite fantastic. Would've been much better if I hadn't puked all over the floor as soon as I spotted a heart. " He chuckled. In answer, I laughed so hard I nearly choked on the cocktail we were enjoying. We went from our uneasy beginnings to laughing and having a fantastic time because Ethan was intriguing. I couldn't help but feel let down as the date drew to an end. I wanted to get to know him better and spend more time with him. I felt drawn to him for some reason. Something is intriguing about Ethan. When I'm around him, I feel like a new person—he's entertaining and compassionate. At least, thus far. "Well, this was a lot of fun. I appreciate that you agreed to accompany me tonight." Rubbing the back of his neck, he spoke. "I had a fantastic time." The steak was the greatest I've ever tasted, and you were right. Thank you so much for it, Matty." I smiled in response. "So uh, do you want...I mean, would you like to uh..." He made a tense stutter. "Yeah?" "Would you be interested in spending some time at my house? Perhaps see a movie or something else?" He questioned tremblingly. It could have been that my expression wasn't promising or that it took me a moment to answer. Which would have been untrue, of course. I desired more time spent with him. This night was too good to end. "You don't have to. I just had a nice evening and don't work as early as I usually do, so I don't want you to feel under any pressure." He digressed. "No, no, no. I would adore doing that. I would really, truly love to," I answered right away. He smiled broadly at me and led the way to the car as relief swept over him.
