Anna POV The flooring had a lovely marble quality to it, and the whole home was black, white, and grey. It had a contemporary air and helped the spaces open up. He brought me upstairs, where there was a corridor that had at least five rooms lined up on each side. We entered the first room on the left, and he locked the door behind him. "This is my dad's workplace. He retains a copy of every single transaction we do with our customers. He prefers a duplicate of whatever he spends so no one can have a chance to swindle him over. We never had difficulty when it comes to returns. It's sort of weird; he puts things in alphabetical order, but there is no order at all." He chuckled, flicking through the drawers of one of the file cabinets. After about a minute of searching, he must have located what he was looking for. smiled. "What do you do for work?" I inquired suspiciously. "I am the CEO of my firm. My father and I created this firm years ago, and we have two offices right now. It's named Fain & Frailey.y. My father and his closest buddy from high school operate the first site, whilId his kid run the other location. It's very much a father-an-and-sonmily firm." He laughed. "What do you guys do?" "It has a lot to do with money and business. We simply locate firms that have significant potential and assist them in getting started. We receive a percentage of what they make, of course. And in exchange, they get a corporation that isn't so...shitty? Is that disrespectful to say?" He inquired with a chuckle. "So you sound pretty confident in what you do." I laughed. "I am. I adore it." He grinned in reply. We exited the room and headed back downstairs. Dane was standing in the kitchen and startled for a second when he spotted us. "God, you two scared me." He laughed uncomfortably. "Sorry, Dad. Did"DidmMomready leave?" Ethan asked. "Yeah. I imagine she's going out tonight with buddies or something. I have no idea." He groaned before heading back into the yard. "Ignore him. He can be a jerk sometimes." Ethan laughed. "He has been pretty nice to me so far," I admitted. "Just wait. The longer you know him, the worse it becomes." He laughed. Something underlying his chuckle was really serious, however. "Do you live here with your parents?" I inquire, shifting the topic. "Oh, no. I have been relocated for approximately three years now. It's only my dad here. Well, and my mom occasionally." "Oh, I guess I just assumed you lived here." "Yeah. It's a wonderful home. I simply didn't want to live with my dad anymore. He is pretty...uptight." ," hemitted. "Do you like living alone?" "Oh sure, I adore it. I have a wonwonderful, dest home approximately two miles away. I still keep quite close to my mom. I'm undoubtedly a Momma's Boy." He laughed. I could tell from the minute they talked that he was. "How old are you?" I inquire curiously. I already know the ansanswer,t I don't need him to know that. "Twenty-four. And you?" "Twenty." I watched as his eyes expanded significantly. He looked worried, and immediately I started to regret giving him the truth. I should have simply lied. "Is that a problem?" I laughed uncomfortably. "No! No, it's alright. You're simply so...mature for your age. I believed you were my age." ," heswered. "Sorry to disappoint." I laughed. "Never a disappointment. Just a surprise." "I guess I jusjust—"began before my phone started ringing. "Guess we're pretty popular people right now." Ethan pointed out with a grin. "I need to take this pretty swiftly. I'm"I'm sorry,"apoapologizedfore answering my phone. "Hello?" I asked the strange caller. “Anna, where are youyou? y dad said on the other line. "Dad? What phone are you phoning me from?" "Where are you, Anna? Your sister is asking." He asked again. Always disregarding my inquiry, I see. "I'm at a barbecue. You knew I was going to do this." "You need to come home. NowNow Phoebe waiting for you. I don't know how to keep her company." ," heswered. "Can't you simply amuse her for a little longer? I'm sort of during something." Yeah, I'm in the process of earning $700 as we speak. Don't spoil this for me, please. "No. Come home." He stated before hanging up. I let out an angry moan and slipped my phone back into my pocket. Of course, this would happen to me. "Everything okay?" Ethan asked. "Not quite. That was my Daddad.think I have to go home since my younger sister is begging for me." I answered, picking my stuff up once again. "So soon? You"Youst got here." ," heid regretfully. "I know. I'm sorry. I had a terrific day th, though;ank you very much for hosting me." "Thank you very much for attending. It was certainly a nice surprise." He answered. "Let me walk you out?" He asks. I smiled in return as he took me out to my vehicle. I didn't want to go. Things were going so nicely. Things were going well. Given that I virtually leaped for his neck when he attempted to tip me earlier. "Do you work tomorrow?" He asked when we went to my vehicle. "Sadly, yes." "Looks like I may need to pop over for another coffee then. If it's acceptable with you, that is." He asked, grinning at the end. "As long as you don't try tipping me." I joked. "I think I'll abstain. I'll see you soon, then?" "Hopefully." I grinned honestly. I wasn't lyilying;truly did want to see him again. I have to. "It was wonderful meeting you, Anna. Have a wonderful night." He grinned as I got into my vehicle. He waved farewell as I drove out of the driveway. I turned back in my rearview mirror and saw him with his hands in his pockets, observing me as I drove down the road.
