It was too calm of a night. Once a sanctuary in the country, the mansion now looks ominously deserted. Adrian realized something was wrong as soon as he entered the dimly lighted corridor, even though a pleasant breeze was rustling the draperies. His instincts screamed at him.
Then he noticed it.
Just inside the front door, on the wooden floor, was a lonely letter scrawled in dark red ink. The sight chilled his blood.
Jonathan was only the first.
He stooped to pick it up, his heart beating. There was a little iron blood odor to the paper.
"Sophie!" The house resonated with his voice.
