"Fearful?" Ethan looked at her sideways, his words provoking. "The more he tells you not to show up, the more you want to. Who knows, one day he might get upset and kick you out of Star City?"
Alice wasn't provoked by him and looked straight at him. "So if Adam tells me to leave Star City, I can just go?"
The implication was that Ethan had something on her and she had to rely on his goodwill. Otherwise, if she left and Ethan told Adam about the child, Adam would find her no matter where she went.
"You don't know me well enough. If he really asks you to leave Star City, I'll let you go," Ethan said.
Alice looked at him suspiciously. Based on her previous experience of being manipulated, she thought this was more like a trap.
