Chapter 6

Astin POV

  "I have never done anything like that before what was my problem?"

  "You left our mate again! What is the matter with you?" Jameson barked at me.

 I knew that coming here was a big mistake but no my father wanted me here to find this girl. Was she the girl that I was looking for. Now to find out that she is my mate of all people. The only reason that I was at this damn dance was to find this girl and report back to my dad for him to do Goddess knows what. There's also the fact that Maria is here too somewhere. I went back to where I saw here last. She was still standing there looking pissed off.

  "Why the hell did you disappear on me?" she screamed at me.

  "Do not raise your damn voice at me. I do not know who you think you are talking to but you better fix it."

  "I'm sorry, but you should not have left me hear with a bunch of people I do not know." she whimpered.

  "It's a dance to find your mate. Nobody knows anybody here that is the point. You can find something else to do than follow me around like a lost little wolf!"

  "Why are you speaking to me like this? Did you find somebody else? Did you find your mate? I thought you didn't believe in that s**t. Come to think of it I can smell her on you. She smells like s**t I thought we were going to be together damned what the Moon Goddess says. I can't believe you succumbed to the pulling of your mate."

  "Bite your tongue and watch what you say about her."

  What was I saying she is making me nuts and Jameson is pacing back and forth in my head wanting to go find the girl and finish what we started on the side of the house. Goddess this girl was intoxicating like a drug I have no clue if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Now I have to figure out what it was that my father wanted with her. I could feel her presence before she appeared before me. I turned around and there she was with fire in her eyes.

 "Whoa!" Jameson commented

"Who the hell do you think you are starting all of that and then dropping me like a bad habit are f*****g kidding me right now. I knew this night was going to be some s**t but seriously what the f**k is your deal!" she shouted attracting a lot of attention.

  "WHO THE f**k IS THIS ASTIN? IS SHE WHO YOU DITCHED ME FOR IS THIS YOU SUPPOSED MATE!" Maria started shouting.

 For the love of Goddess these two are out of control right now. She turned towards Maria the look in her eyes growing brighter. She stepped towards her menacingly and with conviction she pointed her finger at her.

 "Watch who you think you are talking to I can guess who you think you are talking to but it is not me. You should watch yourself you never know what could happen."

 Maria stared, eyed throwing daggers at Anna. "Oh honey I am the woman that Astin has been deep inside for 4 years now. Just because you cam along does not mean he is going to drop me like a bad habit."

 This has gone to far but before I could even step in to put Maria in her place Anna did.

  "What did you just say to me?" she boomed.

Anna POV

  This girl is out of her mind how dare she say this to me. I could feel the fire growing in me, and I knew we were attracting a crowd. I didn't mean for it to happen this way it just did. I couldn't let someone just sit here and mouth off to me as if I was a nobody. Athena was ready to come out and rip this girls head off and I was going to let her until Orlando ran in front of me

  "Annaliese! You need to calm down! She's not worth it remember what we are here for." he shouted

  I could hear what he was saying but it was like my body wasn't listening. There is something truly wrong with me and I can't explain what it was. Orlando kept shouting at me to calm down and Leslie came and joined in, soon the rest of my pack was around me trying to get me to regain control form whatever was spiraling out of me. Athena tried to fight it and stay riled up.

  "No this insolent wolf needs to be punished for speaking to us this way. How dare she!"

  "Athena, no we are causing a scene. Look at us there is something not right with us right now. You know what it is but I don't. This was not what we were suppose to do tonight. You understand?"

 "I do."

  She finally stopped fighting me and we calmed down. I looked around and everyone was staring at me. I hate that so I ran. I could hear Orlando and Leslie calling for me but I just kept running. I ran into the forest as fast as I could. I ran until I reached the clearing where the hooded person was. I sat down and stared at the cliff.

  "What is happening to me Athena?"

 "It is who you are Annaliese. We are special chosen by the Moon Goddess herself. You have powers that no other wolf has and until you can learn to control them they will always be like this when you have extreme emotions."

 "Powers what kind of powers you being vague right now Athena does not help me. This is my life not some joke."

 "I know it's your life it is my life too. We were chosen for each other believe it or not. I promise everything will become clear and I will be better able to explain it to you."

 I could hear someone rustling around in the trees behind. I almost started to shift when Jake came out of the forest looking frazzled and concerned.

 "Annaliese are you okay. That was crazy back there I can not even fathom what was happening. What was your deal with that girl?

 "She offended me." I shot walking up to him.

 His eyes softened as he gathered me into a tight hug.

 "We really gotta work on your people skills Annaliese. I am afraid you're gonna scare people off with this new attitude of yours." he laughed.

 "Ooh yeah laugh it up punk. You just wait until someone has offended you the way she did me." I smiled., "I am sure everyone got a kick out watching me."

  "They are intrigued and a little afraid. They have never seen a female Alpha before especially one who looks like she's on fire."

  "On fire, what are you talking about?"

  Jake took a step back to look at me but still had a grip around my arms. "Seriously you didn't notice. Anna you had purple smoke rise up out of you that looked like purple flames."

  "Get your hands off of her!" a voice shook out of the trees.

  Jake and I turned to look to see who was coming out of the forest and it was none other then my mate Astin. He looked like he was ready to tear Jake into pieces. Jake instinctively took a step in front of me and tucked me behind him.

  "Who the hell are you to demand me to get my hands off of my friend." Jake yelled.

  "He's my mate." I whispered into his ear.

  In slow motion Jake turned to look at me with an incredulous look on his face. He stared into my eyes to see if I was lying but all he found was truth in them. Jake turned back to Astin who had moved closer and was snarling at Jake.

   "Astin is my mate Jake. I found out a bit ago when his little girlfriend decided to make a scene and make me lose my temper."

  "That was your friend who made Anna act like that. You need to get the hell out of here."

  "Not without talking to Anna first!"

  "She doesn't wanna talk to you why the hell would she?"

  "She is standing right here and she can speak for herself!" I interjected, "Jake I can protect myself as you can see and Astin why would I want to talk to you after everything that just happened."

  "I am sorry that was not how I expected coming here to go. I was not looking for my mate but then I found you. It is true I was with Maria for years, but then I met you and I forgot all about her. You are special and you are my mate and nothing should ever hurt you. Can you forgive me?"

  Jake  looked at me waiting for my answer on whether to move out of my way or turn Astin into a pile of bones. I never moved, I avoided looking at either one of them. Why do the guys in my life think that I either need a guy to rescue me or love me and protect me. I am not some helpless little wolf that can't take care of herself. I have been on my own and survived. Having a mate is just something I don't need and never wanted. Guys are stupid! Jake ducked down to look at my eyes while Astin stood growling in the back because he was touching me.

 'See stupid' I thought to myself.

 "Yeah but one is your mate and the other is your best friend." Athena offered.

"I did not ask for this?"

 "I know but it is happening so you might as well take it for what it is. Astin could be the help that you need to find whoever caused us so much pain."

 "That is true. Fine I will give it a try but I won't like it."

 "Yes you will! Cause I did!" Athena laughed

 Taking a backseat again I finally looked up to the two people who were giving me so much grief in just a few hours. I looked at Jake and nodded at him. It was our way of communicating without words saying that I was okay to be alone with Astin. He nodded back and took his leave to go back to the party. Astin looked at me cautiously his eyes as blue as the ocean. He slowly made his way towards me and when he stood in front of me he quickly gathered me in his arms as if I was going to run away. I thought about it, but what good would running away from him do, now that he know I'm his mate he will always look for me. Sparks shot through my entire body from the contact and I melted into him.

  Goddess what I have gotten myself into.
