Paranormal Girl

1292 Words
A loud bang brings Tessa back to reality.  It's Mrs. Adams throwing her ruler at Pete again.  Just when you think Science couldn't get any more interesting.  Tessa never really liked the subject, all those chemical names and newton laws you have to study is so unnecessary.  She'd rather have math the whole day, than sit one period in this joke of a subject. " Tessa Winter! " says Mrs. Adams in her deep 'you are in trouble' voice. Tessa almost fell of her seat.  She then replies with a hesitant voice, " Yes, mam? "  " What type of waves are present during an earthquake? " asks Mrs. Adams, with a big grin on her face.   This is one of the hardest questions a science teacher can ask their class.  Tessa knew it and Mrs. Adams knew it too.  Tessa didn't have the slightest clue what to say, which was odd because she studied this yesterday.  She decided she might as well start talking as to not talk at all.  Maybe it would then come to her. " Well, uh, mam the…” Before she could answer a voice comes from the back and does it for her. " Both transverse and longitudinal "  " Correct " says Mrs. Adams in shock.  Tessa didn’t quite understand why she wasn’t able to answer.  She isn’t good and the subject and that is why she studies ahead every night.  That is why she should have been able to answer the question.  Luckily this guy answered for her.   Tessa was both relieved and stunned when this he got the question correct. The humans never answer anything in class and now one not only answer, he answers for her.  Who was this mysterious guy?  She usually recognizes the human's smells immediately, but this person is new.  He must be an exchange student from New York.  They get a lot of those here.  Why people would want to come to this small, unknown town is baffling for Tessa, but she usually doesn't care.  For some reason this time it’s different.  There's just something about him and she can’t put her finger on it.  She feels that she needs to know everything about him otherwise she has no reason for going on.  Which is weird, because she hasn’t even seen the guy who has this effect on her. Tessa turns around to have a look at this human who actually had the guts to answer without raising his hand in Mrs. Adams's class and who, to Tessa's surprise, helped her even though he doesn't know her.  You see, Tessa has always been seen as strange in this town.  People here don't like different and they don't even try to become a part of something they're not familiar with.  She never really fit in with the people in this town and her gift of feeling what every single person feels when she sees them, didn't make it easier.  Tessa struggles to keep her own emotions in place most of the time and feeling other people’s emotions can sometime be truly exhausting. The guy is sitting right at the back of the class.  As she turns around, their eyes meet.  Tessa is immediately fascinated by this boy and she became oblivion to everything. His cheekbones are exotic and prominent.  His hair is a soft, chestnut brown color.  His eyes are a green, hazel color that Tessa has not yet seen in any other human in this town before, it makes her feel as if it is where she has to go if she needs to feel querencias and at home. His smell is like a sweet petrichor. His sonorous voice is complemented by his eloquent language, it’s mellifluous to Tessa’s ears.  His lips are moist and round. His smile is pure and beautiful, but he’s clearly an eccedentesiast.  She doesn’t blame him for hiding his agony.  It’s normal.  Tessa has learned that this is the way 99% of all humans hide their sadness and pain.  Everyone in this whole town does what he does.  Everyone in the world does what he does.  She feels connected to this guy and can’t really tell why.  Tessa used her wolf ability, to hear very far, and tried to figure out more about him.  His name is Luke Woods and he just moved here from New Zealand because his dad got some type of raise.  Luke plays sport and likes chocolate milkshakes. He’s also very smart and can make friends easily.  Just before Tessa could find out anything else a rough, hard voice from behind her says, “Maybe you shouldn’t stare so much.” It’s Zach Patterson. Tessa never really liked him.  He has a strange smell that’s very unsettling and he always just gives her a look like he wants to kill her.  It never really bothered Tessa, because she always just assumes, he thinks she’s weird, like everybody else.  Zach is a jock.  His parents are very wealthy and therefor he thinks he has the power and right to treat people like he wants.  He’s also very cocky and he envies himself. “Stop being a whippersnapper”, Tessa says with an annoyed voice.  She’s actually quite pleased with herself.  Her mother always tells her that she’s a whippersnapper and she shouldn’t get so ahead of herself.   Tessa’s wanted to use that word on someone her own age since she heard it the first time.  She loves saying, not as much receiving, the word and didn’t think she’d ever be able to say it to anyone. Luckily just before Zach could say anything further the bell rang. Tessa rushes out of class to be on time for her next period.  She hates Zach for always choosing her as prey.  There are so much useless, tiny humans he could possibly torment, but no.  He chooses the vampire, werewolf who struggles with keeping her emotions in place.  Tessa briskly walks to her locker to switch her science books for her math books.  Finally, a class she can actually enjoy.  Not only is the subject fantastic, but she gets to go to class with her best friend, Emily. Emily Anderson is one of the most amazing human beings Tessa has ever met.  Emily is ethereal.  Her personality is like a diamond that coruscates when light falls on it.  She is the nefelibata of this town, but in a good way.  It doesn’t bring her down, instead, it keeps her interesting.  When Emily is around, there is no determining what you’re going to talk about.  She has her own ways and ideas and she doesn't shy away from sharing them with people when she gets the chance.  Emily is short and has the most beautiful long golden locks on her head.  Every single morning, she enters the room with her balter heading towards Tessa with the biggest smile any human could have.  Emily and Tessa have been friends since pre-school.  They do pretty much everything together and every time Tessa feels down or lassitude, Emily is always there with her perky personality and bright ideas to make Tessa feel better. Tessa closes her locker door and without looking she started walking.  Bang.  Her books hit the floor.  She really didn’t have time for this.  Just as she looks up to give this human a piece of her mind, she loses her words.  It’s Luke.
