Unkown’s POV
It was only a dream, Eleanor was running away in it trying to find the exit of the long, deserted and gloomy corridor, in a lonely decaying building. “How did I get here?” she thought to herself for a second. “Wait. I was kidn*pped”. The man, Nick, who she was running from, had haunted her dreams since that incident when she was just 15. She was reliving that again, now. “you can never run away from me Ellie”, Nick shouted and was laughing hysterically.
She was not going to let him catch her again for the second time, she thought to herself and during that, she didn’t notice the wires that were on the floor. She tripped and fell down hard on to the cold, hard cement surface, injuring her head badly. Within seconds, she fell unconscious. When she came around, that was when she heard it. “Wake up” and a glass of ice cold water being splashed on her face.
With that Eleanor woke up from her dream, sweating profusely and her heart pounding on the surface. She sat there on her bed for a while, before jumping to the alarm sound. This has been going on for a long time now and she would always wake up to that nightmare. Stop it now El, you need to move on, pick up yourself, she chided herself. With that thought, she got up from her bed, taking her clothes for the day and headed towards the bathroom.
Eleanor owned now a small catering services company which is known for its best service and lip smacking menus, particularly designed for every demand of the customers. Her line of work was thriving now, particularly, after signing a contract with a multinational company few weeks ago.
After finishing up her business in bathroom, Eleanor got ready to work, with minimal make-up, a mascara, lip gloss and hair tied up in a neatly fixed bun. Never did she give a thought to herself on how she should look pretty, since that’s what it got her into the trouble the first place. She wore today a white button down shirt, gray pencil skirt, and a gray jacket to go along with. She took her purse, keys and went downstairs to be greeted by her servant Vicky, in short, for Victoria, whom she live with alone.
Eleanor’s POV
“Good Morning Vicky”, I said and she looked up from the kitchen and said Good Morning Miss. Vicky how many times should I tell you please call me El, and not miss. God !! this girl needs to learn. See, I am not comfortable with all these formalities and all. And for godess’s sakes, we were the only people lived in this huge house.
Well, I bought this apartment in a building few months ago, and took in Vicky. Vicky was in her late twenties, and had been a victim of abuse, like me. I found her on the street, bleeding from her cuts on her face and I took her immediately to the hospital. Thankfully, no damage had been done except for the face, she was lucky she escaped a cruel fate and away from her abuser. From then on, we lived together in my house.
Anyway’s Vicky, I’m off to work, take care. See ya soon, I said and with that I was off to work. As soon, as I reached my office building, I was greeted by my receptionist / assistant, May Pears. May has been here only for a week now, but has managed well to look after all my needs and set up the business meetings and all. She walked in my cabin with a strong cappuccino in one hand and today’s schedule in another. I smiled and took the coffee from her. This is what I need, a strong dose of caffeine and your day is just as fine as any other, I said. She laughed quickly and went through today’s schedule for me. There was nothing much today except for the catering section visit and a lunch with a client, a potential client, she mentioned.
