”Everyone’s dismissed, you can go back to whatever you were all doing. We will have the ceremony in two days. Jonas, Eleanor, to my office now.”

With that everyone left and we made our way to the office. We were seated opposite to the alpha and he sighed.

“El, I know this is too much for you to bear and I knew that my son was not your true mate. Also, with what happened, you’d want to take time to adjust and resume with your life in the pack. Well, as we all know, as soon as you graduated you wanted to do your own business. I have a small apartment in the city. You can start there afresh. Here’s some cash for you to survive on your own for a month, but after that you are on your own dear”

Wait wait wait what? What’s going on? First of all Nick was dead, and now I’m being kicked out?

“No dear, you’re not being kicked out.”

Did I think that out loud?

“Yes dear, but be assured. You’re not being banished or kicked out. I can understand your situation now. I felt it when my mate died. You’ll always be a part of this pack. I gave your father my word that I’ll protect you with all my life. It’s your decision now.“

I looked at my best friend AKA the next Alpha of our pack. He smiled and gave me an encouraging look. “I’ll always be here Ellie, to welcome you back. We’re all with you in your every decision.”

I packed my bags next day and set off to the city with Alpha Philips. He dropped me in the apartment, and introduced me to a kind old lady, Ms. Rosie, who owned a diner, two blocks away from where I was about to stay. She was from our pack as well.  She was the caretaker of the apartment for Alpha Philips.

I quickly thanked him, “Thank you Alpha.”

“Call me Philips dear. And no need to thank me. This is all I can do for you now. But if you ever need anything else, you can contact me or Jonas.”

“Ok.”

After that he left me alone in that apartment and I set out to work everyday in Ms. Rosie’s diner for about an year and a half. Ms. Rosie was a kind and always cheery lady. She used to tell me different stories of her and her mate, how they fell in love and how life had been colorful till the day when the rogues attacked our pack. The same rogue attack in which my parents died, Ms. Rosie too lost her mate. It was Philips, who brought her here and gave her the caretaker job and set up the diner.

The diner was on a state highway, close to the human town and it was very busy all the time. Ms. Rosie baked the best cupcakes and cakes, along with the best lasagna and steaks. Anyone who frequented the diner knew to order the steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, and the mini cupcake collection.

It was after a year and a half, I took over the diner from her as her health deteriorated. It was at that point of time, I got an idea and I spoke with the human mall manager about catering services for their lunch time. All the employees in the mall very super happy and excited to hear that.

That’s how my business started.
