Chapter five

“Yes yes, I do understand the situation, I am just saying that you should stay calm, it’s just the matter of time, I promise we will get your daughter back, it is just a custody case try to understand, you do not need to do anything like that, just be patient ma’am.” I heard dad’s voice while going downstairs; he was probably talking to someone on call in the matter of his case. 

Though it was unusual to find all my family at the breakfast table but I was very happy to see all of us together after so long. “It is so good to see you all, come on guys lets have breakfast together this morning”, my mother said. We all sat on the table and started eating our food; family time is something really special I must say, this togetherness makes you feel so good and refreshed, safe at the same time. I suddenly felt something on my leg and realized it was Hailey, she again asked me to talk to dad, “dad? I was wondering we should think something for Hailey, I mean look at her, she does not go out anymore, she does not hangout with her friends, she have not had an open air meal since last 7 months just because of security issues, it is okay, I do understand the fact that you received a threat for her that those people might hurt her but dad, you know, it is all over now, those people were wrong, you won that case and after that you never received such threat or any call. It is just they were trying to make you weak by taking Hailey’s name and dragging her in his because they did not want you to win that case against them, they wanted to divert your attention to Hailey’s security, but see, by the grace of God, nothing happened. I guess it’s the time to let Hailey do what she wants to do, or else she will gradually start to feel low, she will have complexes and many other more negative things.” I looked at Hailey, and gave her a winning smile. It is true that I do feel bad for her, she is always home and she only goes out with mum or Samantha, because dad is afraid that some people out there might kidnap or hurt her. After me, my mum and Samantha supported the idea of Hailey getting rid of security guards and this restriction of staying home. “Okay so as you all have decided, I permit you Hailey to go out with friends, to go wherever you want to but one thing you should always keep in mind that there will be a tracker with you 24/7 and I will not compromise on this, you will have to be extremely careful, you will go out with one of my trustworthy drivers, and no one else. I hope you will get that I am concerned about you”, dad told Hailey and permitted her to go out. “Thank you so much dad, God knows how much fed up I have become of these walls, and don’t you worry captain, your girl knows how to break bones, I am a black belt holder man, want to see?”, she suddenly punched my stomach out of nowhere. “Ouch!” I shouted, it was painful, I threw a spoon at her and she caught it, inside my head I already called her fatty poo, she hates this name, she looked at me and murmured a thank you to which I said “not welcome” loudly. 

It was almost 9 and I was waiting for John to come out of his house and get inside the car. This lad is so lazy, I told him to be ready but as always he is late. “Aye aye captain”, John said while sitting inside the car, I accelerated and started driving the car to university. I often ask John to come with me for company; he is such a nice person to be with. I saw The Yum’s outlet and couldn’t stop myself from buying my favorite brownies. I was crossing the road and suddenly I saw a car coming towards me so quickly, that I did not even get time to look anywhere, I just did not get enough time to react, it was too speedy that the only option I had left was to cover my face with the box of brownies I had just bought. I felt a sudden jerk and a heavy load on me, I was on the ground, I fell at the road and there was something on me, something really heavy, I could not even move. After a minute or so, I gained my consciousness back, the sky was all shiny and blue until I saw him again, that man was actually standing right in front of me, he gave a hand to me, which I, without giving and any second thought held and got up from the road. “You okay young man?, I tried my best to push you aside so that the car could not hurt you, thankfully, the breaks worked at the eleventh hour, you are okay?” I heard him saying, I was all shocked and amazed that how quickly he came to save me, when I know that he was nowhere near me at that moment, how on earth could he be this quick and reactive, I wondered. “Thank you so much for saving me, I think I have seen you before”. Definitely I have seen him all my childhood, even I saw him yesterday in front of my office. “Oh yes, once I was crossing the road carefully unlike you, once in a shopping mall’s parking area, once I was entering a mart and you saw me there from your office’s building, and now here in the middle of the road, gentleman, can we please get aside so that the traffic does not get blocked?”. I was in a state of disbelief, I was totally shocked, I saw John running towards me and asking if I was okay, to which I assured him that I was totally fine. I saw so many people within seconds around me to find that I was doing okay; even the car driver came and apologized. John took me to the hospital because I had some minor injuries on both of my elbows and knees. I kept on asking him about the man who saved me but he denied by telling me that he was just a normal man; he saved me and then he was gone. It all happened so fast that I did not even have the time to thank him properly.
