Meanwhile, Jake drove himself back home with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. There was blood and bullet holes everywhere in the car. His adrenaline was pumping, so he didn't feel any pain yet. He rushed inside and woke his brother and Monique up from their sleep. Monique, seeing the blood and him shot, let out a scream: "Oh my God! What happened?!" Crying and hysterical, Judah ran out of his room and downstairs to see the commotion and witnessed his brother being shot. "Bruh, what the hell happened!?" Judah said. Jake responded, "That guy Knucklehead shot me when I was coming out of the store."
Jake was enraged and ran upstairs to get his gun but noticed it was missing. He went back downstairs and asked, "Yo, you got my gun!?" Jake replied, "Yeah, I wasn't able to get to it in time because it fell under the seat." Judah was glad he ran instead of trying to reach it; he might not have been able to tell us what happened. Judah ran outside to get the gun from the car. When he opened the door, blood stains were all over the front driver seat, bullet holes in the windshield, and bullet holes in the headrest of the driver seat. Glass was everywhere. It just dawned on Judah that he could have lost his brother today. Sick from the thought.
He grabbed the gun and closed the door. He went back into the house and said, "We have to clean this mess up in here and take you to the hospital before Mama Pearl gets back from work." Still with tears in her eyes, Monique was ready to help Jake to the car but was stopped by Judah. "No, don't use the car. Call the ambulance instead." Confused about the demand because the ambulance would take longer to get there, but she chose to just call and not put up a fuss. Voice trembling in the receiver, she dialed 911. "911, What's your emergency?" said the operator.
Monique couldn't control her breathing; her hands were shaking. "Yes, my boyfriend has been shot. I need an ambulance!" The operator responded, "What's your location, ma'am?" "3327 Acres Way," Monique shouted. The operator instructed Monique to stay calm while she dispatched officers and an ambulance to her location.
The operator then asked Monique, "How bad is the gunshot wound?" Monique answered, "He got shot in his shoulder and there's blood everywhere."
"Ok, we're sending the ambulance now. Is the shooter still there?" said the operator, irritated with the question. Monique said, "No, he came home shot!"
While listening to the call, the dispatcher radioed the nearest officers in the area. We have a code 3 gunshot wound victim at 3327 Acres Way. Officers who were still on the scene of the shooting were Davis and Wyatt, along with other officers who arrived afterwards, including Sergeant Jones and other patrols, heard the call on the radio.
Sergeant Jones then instructed one of the other two officers, Jackson and Williams, to go to the location, but Davis insisted on going to take the rookie. Okay, then put the suspect in Jackson's cruiser and told Jackson to take him to the precinct.
"Yes, ma'am," said Jackson. As they were switching cars with Knucklehead, a black 2018 Audi Q3 rode past and saw what was going on.
Knucklehead noticed the car first. "Ah, s**t, this nigga," he said to himself. It was H.B in the car wondering what was going on, but he never stopped. He made a call to Maddog. Maddog answered, "Speak." "Yo, your nephew just got picked up, for; I don't know, but it's some s**t of police out here." Instantly mad and irritated.
What the hell did this dummy do now? Saying it out loud in frustration. I swear my sister dropped this fool on his head when he was a baby or something! Maddog then told H.B to just lay low until we know what the hell is going on.
Soon after they both got off the phone, breaking news came on Maddog's TV. News reporter Nika Gray reported that there's been a shooting in front of the Quick Mart on Rady St and officers have a suspect in custody. If there's any additional information that the officers can tell us, we will report it to you on RCTV. Back to you, Jim.
In disbelief that his nephew had gone against everything he said, he knew he had to go fix the situation himself because the heat could fall back on him big time. Maddog then made a phone call to his defense attorney, whom he keeps on retainer. The phone was answered: "This is Michael Levy speaking." Then Maddog said, "Yo, we have a situation. I'm already ahead of you. I saw it on the news myself. I'm heading to the precinct now."
"Alright, I'll meet you there," said Maddog, then hung up the call.
As Jake, Monique, and Judah were all waiting for the ambulance to arrive, Judah wanted to put anything illegal away from the police and EMT's sight. Jake suggested that he could wait on the porch. Monique didn't want him to move until the EMTs got there, but Jake insisted. While Monique was helping Jake on the porch, she could see two police cruisers and the ambulance pulling up to the house behind them.
The four officers secured the scene and the perimeter while the EMTs attended to Jake. One of the two EMTs checked for the entry and exit wounds. Monique asked them what they were doing because she wanted them to hurry up and take him to the hospital. The lady EMT explained to her that she was checking for the entry and exit of the bullet (entry wounds tend to have a round shape with a surrounding margin of contusion), while exit wounds can have a variety of appearances, including round, egg-shaped, slit, stellate, or arc.
If the bullet expanded or tumbled on its axis, it most likely won't leave any residue. "We're going to bandage his wound so he won't bleed out anymore, then take him to the hospital," said the EMT lady. They then put Jake on a gurney and into the ambulance. Davis made his way to Judah, asking him what had happened. With an aggravated look towards Davis, Judah said he didn't know. He had just came home, shot. "Really?" said Davis, not believing Judah. Then Judah responded, "Yeah, really."
Ok, smart guy. Well, we're impounding your vehicle as part of evidence. Overhearing what Davis said, Monique responded, "Nah, that's my car! I need to get back and forth to school and work." Your car is part of an investigation, ma'am," said Davis. Monique, confused at first, then looked over at her car and saw it was covered in bullet holes, with her windows shot out. In disbelief, she just accompanied Jake in the ambulance.
As the ambulance was leaving, Detective Sullivan pulled up and was then met by Davis. Given the rundown of the situation, Davis told him that the victim's brother is not going to be too much help. He claims he doesn't know anything and that he just came home like that. Sullivan, listening and looking around the area, saw bystanders looking concerned about Jake's wellbeing, while others seemed to be just nosy.
Davis then told the detective that it was possibly a retaliation for the robbery that took place four nights ago. Sullivan, with a confused look, asked, "What robbery?" Being that it wasn't reported, Davis then sighed, grinned, and said, "Streets talk," then proceeded to walk away.
The detective muttered "asshole" as he got into his car and headed to the hospital to question the victim. As Sullivan passed through the crowd and prepared to leave the townhome's parking lot, he noticed the news reporter Nika Gray attempting to rush to the detective's car to ask questions about the current situation. "Detective Sullivan, would you be willing to provide some insight into the shooting?"
We are currently conducting an ongoing investigation. We have a suspect in custody, and the victim's injury is not life-threatening. That's all." The reporter immediately inquired, "Was the shooting a retaliation for the incident that took place four nights ago on Park Ave?" With a pondering expression on his face, wondering how she even knows that, reporter Nika Gray responded with, "The community talks, Detective Sullivan."
Displeased with the statement she had made, Sullivan drove off and headed to the scene of the crime, the Quick Mart convenience store, to acquire video footage of the shooting. When the detective stepped into the store, no one was inside except for the store clerk and a uniformed police officer being that it was a crime scene now. Ali Muhammad, the store clerk, gave the same statement to Sullivan as he did to the other officer, and said that his cameras on the outside are just for show, while the cameras on the inside are the ones that actually work. "Greeat," said Sullivan in a sarcastic way.
After the store scene turned out to be a dead end, Detective Sullivan made his way to the hospital to question Jake about the shooting.
In the ambulance, lying on the gurney, Jake told the EMTs that he could sit up. He had only been shot in the shoulder. The EMT explained to him that the bullet could still be inside him and didn't want it to move any further because it could paralyze him. That's why we laid you down on the gurney.
Monique looks at Jake with a concerned expression on her face. Jake reassures her that everything is going to be aight. She quickly says, "No, it's not. I know you, Jacob." Side-eyeing her, he says, "Let's talk about this later." He knows she might say something he doesn't want to be said around the EMTs, so the conversation was to be continued in her mind.
Judah had finished cleaning up the house before Mama Pearl finished work at 5 pm. It was only 12:00 pm, so he had plenty of time. As he was walking out the door, he received a phone call from.. Mama Pearl. Damn, when he saw the call, "she had to see it on the news." "Hello?" Judah answered. "Judah, what is going on around my house? I saw the news that somebody was shot in front of the store, then went to Acres Deer?" "Yeah, Jake was shot and is on the way to the hospital now." There was a brief pause on the phone. "Hello? Mama Pearl, it's non-life threatening, he's going to be okay."
"I'm gonna put my foot up your ass, you should have led with that the first time!" Irritatedly said Mama Pearl. Sorry, Grandma. What I told you about calling me Grandma, boy? Anyway, I'm going to see if the other nurse can come in a little early so I can go to the hospital. Tell Jacob I love him, and I'm praying for his recovery. Judah responded with, "Yes, ma'am," then hung up.
