Chapter 12 They stuffed Caroline beneath Lansdowne’s desk. Henry could find no other place that offered even a chance of concealment. It was a great mahogany partners desk with thick pedestals on each side, designed to accommodate two men working across from each other. This meant there was a cavernous opening in which she could hide. It also meant that Caro was exposed on two sides.
