Caro knew she needed to maintain the pretense of being ill for at least a few days so the household staff wouldn’t suspect anything. Truth be told, her social schedule since coming to London had been relentless, and the thought of lounging about for a day or two with a good book was tremendously appealing. Not that she could settle in with a book. She found that nothing gave her more pleasure than staring off into space, daydreaming about a certain viscount. She had come to accept that she had been wrong for the past four years.
