As the clock struck midnight, Caro mused that she had become quite skilled at sneaking out of the Astley town house.
She hailed a hack and settled back for the short ride. She had been so lucky today. They had survived their encounter with the thieves and rescued Billy. Anne had covered for her by sending a note to their mother, and when she and Fanny had walked through the door, her mother had assumed she was returning from nothing more exciting than supper with her sister. No magistrate had showed up at the Astley town house to question Caro about a strange story being told by a group of criminals.
And she had finally decided what she needed to do about one Henry Greville.
