Chapter 5 The following morning, Henry set out for the Astley town house, a peace offering of pink primroses in hand. He was in no mood for this call. In addition to the devastating news he had received the previous day, he avoided the sorts of activities that brought him into close proximity with young, unmarried ladies—balls, social calls, and the like. In the back of his mind, he knew that one day he was going to have to marry one of those girls. He had never been able to muster much enthusiasm for it. Some of them were pretty enough, he supposed.
