Marcus Pov Some people say work is the best distraction. I used to disagree. Now, I wasn't so sure. Ever since Maggie came over with those divorce papers, I had thrown myself into work more than ever before. It was easier to spend hours marking essays than it was to sit alone in that quiet house after the boys had gone to bed. The office had become my escape. As I walked down the hallway that morning, I noticed Debbie's office light was already on. Of course, it was. She had developed the habit of arriving before me. I pushed the door open. "Good morning, Miss Greene." She looked up from her laptop and smiled. "Good morning, Professor." She had already arranged my lecture notes neatly on the desk, my inbox had been sorted, and my coffee was sitting exactly where it always was.
