Chapter 4: Office and Tea

Upon exiting the classroom, Fuyi quickly took a glance outside, and luckily, she saw Hedi waiting in front of the elevator. She sighed and walked towards him. Hedi pressed the elevator's button while waiting for Fuyi.

Once Fuyi was beside him, the elevator door suddenly opened. Hedi quickly went inside, while Fuyi stood still in her place. Hedi gestured her to come inside, and Fuyi immediately followed without her realizing. My foot surely does have its own brain.

Hedi pressed the elevator's button, which surprised Fuyi. "Your office is on the rooftop?" Fuyi asked curiously. Hedi nodded and asked, "What's the matter?" Fuyi awkwardly smiled before speaking, "Students and teachers aren't allowed to go to this building's rooftop."

"Well, my office is on the rooftop. So I guess that's fine," Hedi nonchalantly said. The elevator rang and the door opened. Hedi went out with Fuyi, following him. Fuyi looked around and realized that the whole floor was so small. There was nothing but white walls and a huge door. It's almost like the whole floor is just a hallway.

Hedi walked towards the door and entered a passcode along with his fingerprint. The door opened and soon enough, Fuyi was welcomed by the scent of fresh air and plants with a variety of colors. Amazed by what she was seeing, Fuyi quickly strided towards the plants. "Pretty right?" Hedi asked her and Fuyi nodded in response. There are peach trees, amelanchier, and Japanese maple trees to name a few. There were also a variety of flowers.

"No wonder they kept this place restricted to others," Fuyi stated while not keeping her eyes off the plants. She looked around and noticed there were trees as well. Although they were not that tall, they provided the place with quite an amount of shade. Upon looking around, Fuyi's brows furrowed as she sensed a kind of familiarity with the place. Have I seen this place before?

"What's wrong?" Hedi asked and Fuyi just shook her head. "I haven't been here, but this place seems so familiar," Fuyi stated. Without realizing it, her feet took her to a spot and bam—hydrangeas. Fuyi squatted down to get a full view of the hydrangeas. Ever since she was little, she had always loved hydrangeas.

Although there was not much shade in Fuyi's spot, she didn't mind it. The breeze of the wind was nice enough to soothe her skin. Hedi, who was looking at the girl's admiration for the hydrangeas, opened an umbrella he pulled out of nowhere to give Fuyi a shade.

Fuyi looked at the man with a questioning look. Hedi just squatted down with Fuyi and patted her head. "It's hot," Hedi said while looking at Fuyi. " Your skin is sensitive to sunlight. This part has the least shade. Being careful won't hurt, right?" he added.

Fuyi, who couldn't contemplate what was happening, quickly stood up, making her head hit the umbrella Hedi was holding. The latter just chuckled at the girl's reaction. Fuyi, who was feeling both awkward and embarrassed, looked away and asked, "Can't we just get down to business? Like, why did you call me here all of a sudden—and where's your office, by the way?" she curiously asked.

"Well, I didn't wanna disturb your enjoyment over the plants so..." Hedi said and shrugged. Fuyi raised her brow and gave Hedi a questioning look. Hedi raised his hands and chuckled. "Follow me," Hedi stated, and started walking towards the left side of the door they had come in to earlier. Fuyi was amazed when she saw a small house-like room on the left side of the rooftop. She didn't notice it earlier when she was looking around.

Hedi went inside and Fuyi followed him. Fuyi didn't know what was wrong with her. It seemed like her senses were comfortable around Hedi. It seemed like she had known Hedi for so long since she felt so relaxed in his presence. Although, maybe it was due to Hedi only being two years older than her, which made him seem like just a friend she could talk to.

Or because he was just too handsome.

"Please make yourself comfortable," Hedi stated. Without giving it much of a thought, Fuyi sat on the sage-green velvet couch. "Do you have any snacks or drinks here?" Fuyi asked, which made Hedi look at her. "Too comfortable," Hedi commented.

Upon realizing it, Fuyi's cheeks heated up. Fuyi looked away and shyly spoke, "I'm sorry... It's just I haven't had my breakfast nor brunch yet. I'm kinda hungry." Hedi chuckled and smiled. "I was just kidding," Hedi replied and placed a glass of tea and a plate of cookies on the table in front of her. The girl tilted her head and wondered. Banana cookies and iced tea? Did he know I like these foods?

Fuyi shrugged off her thought, since it might be just a plain coincidence. She then focused on the plate of cookies in front of her. All of the cookies were made in different shapes and looked so delicious, which made her want to stuff all of them inside her mouth. However, she's not sure if she can eat the cookies because they might contain too much sugar. Fuyi looked at Hedi who was seated in front of her and back to the plate of cookies.

Noticing Fuyi's expression, Hedi snapped his fingers to get her attention. "I made them sugar free. Don't worry. You can have as much as you like," Hedi stated. Upon hearing that, Fuyi grabbed a piece and started eating. "This is so delicious," Fuyi muttered while grabbing another piece.

"I'm glad you liked it. Try the tea, I made that as well," Hedi stated while motioning his hand towards the drink. Fuyi took a sip without hesitation. After tasting it, Fuyi nodded in satisfaction. The girl looked at Hedi and gave him a thumbs up. Fuyi's expression can't help but make the guy smile.

After having snacks, Hedi took the empty dishes back to the sink and excused himself. Fuyi, who forgot her original purpose, calmly leaned back on the sofa. Feeling a bit sleepy, Fuyi decided to browse the internet while waiting for Hedi. She opened her bag to look for her phone, but to her surprise, it wasn't there.

Hedi came back with a bottle in his hand. He kneeled in front of Fuyi, which shocked the girl. "What are you doing?" Fuyi asked, but Hedi didn't answer. Instead, he took her right foot and removed the shoe she was wearing. He then placed Fuyi's heel on his thigh and opened the bottle he had brought with him earlier.

"I know your pain tolerance is high, but please look after yourself. Look, it's already swollen," Hedi stated, as he poured the liquid inside the bottle, which looked like some sort of herbal oil. Fuyi looked at her swollen ankle. It must be due to her slipping earlier. Hedi started giving Fuyi's foot a massage, which made the girl dumbfounded.

"You don't have to," Fuyi shyly said. Hedi shook his head before answering, "I don't mind. I used to do this before and you didn't mind either." Fuyi's brows furrowed upon hearing what Hedi said. She was about to ask him what he meant but the door abruptly opened, which caught their attention.

"Jayden."
