Chapter 2: Something New

Fuyi soon reached her classroom. She took a quick peek to see if there was a teacher around, and when she saw none, she hurriedly went inside.

"Oh my gosh she's here!"

"You're so early for the 2nd period Fuyi!" her classmates teased her. She just laughed along and sat on her chair, which was placed in the middle of the classroom. While fixing her bag, one of Fuyi's classmates placed a sandwich on her desk.

"Aw I haven't eaten yet. Thanks bestie!" Fuyi pursed her lips to give her an air kiss. Xia just laughed at the girl and sat on her desk.

"Hey, it's already 9:36 AM. Why is Mr. Villanueva not here yet? He's never late," Fuyi asked.

"Oh about that, he won't be arriving today," Xia answered while opening her own pack of sandwiches.

"Is he taking another day off from school?"

"He's no longer our teacher. He got fired."

"Huh? Mr. Villanueva got fired?!" Fuyi quickly fixed her things and sat straight, motioning to her friend that she wanted to hear more about the latest gossip.

Some of her classmates who had just heard what Fuyi shouted gathered around her table and started blabbering.

"He got fired? For real?"

"Why did he get fired all of a sudden?"

"Is it because he molested one of the students in the other section?"

The class was spitting out dozens of reasons as to why the teacher was fired, but Xia slammed her hand on the desk, which made them turn silent.

"Shh! Quiet!" Xia shouted as she crossed her arms.

"I'm the one who's supposed to tell the story, right? Aren't you all curious?" Xia asked and gave them a teasing frown. Her classmates just laughed at her and agreed to keep quiet since they were all slowly dying from curiosity.

"So Mr. Villanueva, our history teacher, did not get fired for molesting a student. That's actually just a rumor. But..." Xia trailed off as she stared at her classmates who were listening to her story. Humans will always be humans.

"But?"

"But?!"

"Come on Xia!" Her classmates urged her to continue the story. They were making too much noise to the point that they garnered everyone's attention in the classroom. Now everyone was urging Xia to tell them what happened.

"Alright geez! Calm down people," she muttered as she rolled her eyes.

"Mr. Villanueva got fired along with his twin, who's also a history teacher, for teaching a distorted version of our country's history to students." Their classmates gasped at what Xia had revealed.

"They deserved it," Fuyi said, which garnered everyone's attention. She looked at her classmates and shrugged.

"I mean, what were they thinking? Cypress doesn't take history revisionism lightly," Fuyi added, and her classmates also nodded their heads in agreement.

"But why would they do it though? I thought our university filters all of their workers?" one of their classmates asked.

"According to my sources, they were bribed to do it because of the upcoming national election," the class president said, and the whole room went silent. It was rare for their class president to butt into gossip.

"They were encouraging other history teachers to follow them as well," he added as he handed Fuyi a boxed juice. Fuyi mouthed 'thank you' and the class president just nodded in response.

"Where's mine Devon?" Xia asked and the guy just shrugged.

The classroom was soon filled with discussion. They were all wondering about how someone with the likes of Mr. Villanueva and his twin got into Cypress and how the punishment would be. However, all of them stopped when a guy suddenly spoke.

"Cypress International University made sure that they were blacklisted from all of the universities in Arvos," a guy stated while walking towards Fuyi's table. The girls started whispering when they saw the one who spoke. It was no other than Jayden Smirnov.

Due to his presence, it's as if the people forgot what they were talking about. The boys near Fuyi's table quickly went back to their seats, while the girls only backed away because they were too stunned to do anything.

Xia automatically went back to her chair and gave Fuyi a teasing look. Fuyi took a glance at her classmates and shook her head. I guess the charms of this half-Russian hottie are turned on again.

Jayden just stared at them blankly and everyone swiftly went back to their own business. Jayden then placed a bottled water on Fuyi's desk while staring at her face.

"I forgot to give you the water earlier so I brought a new one for you," Jayden said and gave Fuyi's head a pat. His eyes landed on the boxed juice on her desk, which Fuyi noticed. And I'm dead.

Jayden flicked Fuyi's nose and stared at her seriously. "You're so hardheaded."

Fuyi was about to retort when Jayden's phone rang. Once he saw the caller ID, he sighed and turned off his phone.

"Don't drink that juice. We'll talk later during lunch break. I have to go." Jayden said to Fuyi and hurriedly went out.

After Jayden left, Fuyi placed her chin on her desk and sighed. "You're so dead," Xia teased her.

Fuyi poked Devon, who was sitting in front of her. "Devil Lee, you have to help me later," she pleaded.

"I'll try," Devon replied jokingly. Fuyi just buried her face in her arms and sighed. My friends are unreliable.

Fuyi continued sulking for a while, until a familiar voice spoke. "Good morning everyone."

The classroom fell silent. A tall man who was wearing an all-black outfit suddenly caught everyone's attention. Fuyi's eyes widened when she saw who it was.

"Oh my god." Xia dropped the sandwich she was eating. Surely she had never seen someone as handsome as him before.

As the man was scanning the entire room, his eyes stopped in the middle of the classroom, in which the whole class noticed. Although it was too late, Fuyi buried her face in her arms.

"Woah looks like someone's gonna confess to Sofia again," one of the students claimed, and everyone started teasing the girl who was seated beside Devon.

The girl, who loved the attention being given to her, just giggled. "Guys stop it, it's not funny," she said coyly and laughed.

Fuyi and Xia both rolled their eyes as soon as they heard what Sofia said. The crowd gets even livelier when the man starts walking towards Sofia's direction. However, when he walked past Sofia and stopped in front of Fuyi's desk, the students inside started murmuring.

"Zhao Fuyi," he called her attention, which made Fuyi look up. Everyone in the class looked at them with confusion. Being as unbothered as he was, the man placed something on Fuyi's desk.

"You left it earlier," the man stated, and went back in front to face the class.

Everyone was dumbfounded.

Fuyi looked at the object and, to her surprise, it was none other than her mirror.

While some are still in the haze of confusion, and others are still gossiping about what happened, the man sat on top of the teacher's table with his legs and arms crossed. Everyone's jaw instantly drops when they realize how long Hedi's legs are. Fuyi also can't help but stare at the handsome man in front of them.

The guy knocked on the wooden table to get everyone's attention before speaking. "Since you're all settled, allow me to introduce myself. I'm your new history teacher. My name is Hedi."
